Before I dive into mini sausage rolls, lets have a fun debate….would you call this recipe mini sausage rolls in air fryer or party sausage rolls in air fryer?

I would always call them party sausage rolls just because I think of these mini sausage rolls as something you would see at a party buffet. Just like you would expect to see vol au vents, cocktail sausages and some mini kievs.

But mini sausage rolls sound good too because they are a mini version of the traditional sausage roll.

You can also make mini sausage rolls yourself and not just do our Greggs mini sausage rolls like we are doing today.

When we made our last batch of air fryer homemade sausage rolls we did half as full sized sausage rolls and then did one lot that was cut into mini ones.

Both were delicious and it depends on your preference and how you plan on serving the sausage rolls and the occasion.

How Do You Cook Small Frozen Sausage Rolls?

You can cook small frozen sausage rolls in the oven or the air fryer. Long before I had an air fryer I always baked frozen sausage rolls in the oven, but for the last 10 years I have just used the air fryer.

Should Frozen Sausage Rolls Be Thawed Before Cooking?

No need to thaw a mini sausage roll, they cook better from frozen, than they do if you thaw them first.

Our time and temp for these frozen mini sausage rolls is based on cooking them from frozen.

Can You Cook Mini Sausage Rolls In An Air Fryer?

Yes, you can cook mini sausage rolls in an air fryer and you will love the air fryer way.

Mini sausage rolls using the air fryer are beautifully golden, cook well, are not dry and you don’t have the worry that you forgot about them in the oven and left them on for too long.  

The only downside to mini sausage rolls in an air fryer is that you cant fit in as many, as you can on a single oven tray.

What Are The Best Mini Sausage Rolls To Buy?

The best frozen mini sausage rolls are Greggs Mini Sausage Rolls sold at Iceland. These taste so good and in our full size frozen sausage rolls in air fryer, we use the full size Greggs sausage rolls.

But I know we don’t all have an Iceland and Greggs produce near us and here are a few other alternatives to Iceland frozen mini sausage rolls:

What About Vegetarian Mini Sausage Rolls?

Of course, if you are a vegetarian the obvious choice would be quorn mini sausage rolls. After all air fryer quorn nuggets are nice so why not do the same for a sausage roll alternative?

But I prefer cheese and onion filled mini rolls instead. They are always sold next to the classic puff pastry mini sausage rolls and are a delicious plan B. Even though I love sausage rolls, I do love the cheesy version too.

Mini Sausage Rolls Air Fryer Ingredients

Sausage Rolls – We like Iceland mini sausage rolls, but you can use any favourite brand. Just remember one layer of party rolls in your air fryer otherwise they will stick together, and you won’t have a golden colour on them.

Egg – To get that amazing glow on the mini sausage roll we recommend brushing with egg wash. You can also flavour the egg wash if you prefer such as beating an egg with salt, pepper and some dried herbs.

Can You Recommend An Air Fryer?

I often get asked which air fryers I recommend and which one I use. In 95% of our air fryer recipes, we use either the Philips Air Fryer XL or the Cosori XL because they are the best ones, we have found out of many air fryers we have tried over the years. How To Air Fry Mini Sausage Rolls?

• Layer. Let’s cook frozen mini sausage rolls. Add a single layer of frozen mini rolls into the air fryer basket. Its okay if they are touching side by side but they shouldn’t be on top of each other. We could fit 16 in a single layer in our air fryer.

• Cook. Air fry mini frozen sausage rolls for 12 minutes at 180c/360f.
• Brush. When the air fryer beeps, brush the top of the pastry with egg wash and then air fry for a final 4 minutes at 200c/400f.

How Long To Cook Mini Sausage Rolls In Air Fryer?

We recommend a frozen mini sausage rolls cooking time of JUST 16 minutes. This is perfect for both cooking the party sausage rolls and then making them golden just like how they are, when you buy them from a bakery.
