Greggs Cheese & Onion Pasty
This week on Recipe This, we are celebrating great Greggs frozen food that you can cook in the air fryer.
We have already done Greggs steak bakes, Greggs vegan sausage rolls and Greggs chicken bakes, as well as our Greggs Magic Bag and today is the turn of another of Greggs best, and that is Greggs cheese and onion pasty.
If you have not had a steak bake from Greggs yet, then you are in for a treat as they are truly delicious meat loaded British pasty.
Though like the rest of the Greggs frozen food range, these cheese and onion pasties are rather impressive for a frozen food sold at Iceland.
In fact, I can not tell the difference between a frozen Iceland cheese and onion bake (what Greggs call pasties) and ones bought fresh from one of their numerous bakeries.
If you are new to cheese and onion pasties, let me tell you, that there are one of the nicest ever British baked goods.
A British bakery classic that I have enjoyed since childhood. As well as showing you the frozen Greggs version today, we also have air fryer cheese and onion pasties and slimming world pasties, for those that want a homemade version.
Today we are going to show how to cook greggs frozen cheese and onion bakes in the air fryer, as well as reheat already cooked bakery bought ones.
Are You New To The Air Fryer?
Plus, as well as our extremely popular air fryer mini course which teaches you the air fryer basics in 5 days, we also have our air fryer bucket list. That is loaded with 30 FREE bucket list worthy air fryer recipes.

Can You Air Fry A Greggs Pasty?
Yes, you sure can. I love to cook Greggs pasties in the air fryer. The biggest benefit of the air fryer is that it can make many pasties golden again and taste like they have just come out of a bakery.
You can never achieve the same result in the same cook time for the oven or microwave.
Can You Reheat Greggs Cheese & Onion Pasty?
You sure can and I have done it more times than I can remember. You can also do the same with many already cooked pasties and pastries.
One of my favourite bakeries is Cooplands and I also love to reheat their baked goods in the air fryer too.
Just think of your favourite bakery, then take your leftovers home and reheat in the air fryer.
Greggs Bakes
I also appreciate that, if you are outside of the UK, you probably cannot source Greggs bakes or Greggs pasties to air fry.
Our Greggs cheese and onion pasties come from the frozen range in Iceland, and we have bulk bought many of their different frozen Greggs products to see how they do in the air fryer.
Instead, I recommend that you use any frozen cheese pasty. Then aim for one of a similar size to ours so that your cook time can be similar.
Greggs Cheese & Onion Pasty Ingredients
Frozen – You will need your Iceland Greggs cheese and onion pasties that you will want to cook in the air fryer. You can do two at a time in an average size air fryer, but if you want you can do them in batches.
Eggs – You will need eggs for the egg wash. I usually add a large egg to a ramekin and mix it with a fork with a splash of milk. Or you can make it more flavoursome by adding some seasoning to the eggs such as salt, pepper, and garlic seasoning.
Sauce – Are you the one that likes something to dunk their cheese pasties into? I am. I love mayonnaise or ketchup the most. Just grab whatever you prefer or go without.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this Greggs cheese and onion pasty air fryer recipe it has just been our Cosori Air Fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.
Plus, we recommend you head over to our air fryer recipes category as we have more than 500 tried and tested air fryer recipes and have been air frying for 10 years.
How Do You Cook Frozen Pasties In Air Fryer?
- Load. Remove your frozen pasties from its packaging and add it to the air fryer basket.
- Spray. Next spray the cheese and onion pasties with extra virgin olive oil. This will help stop them looking anaemic and give them a crisp. Alternatively swap this for egg wash.
- Cook. Air fry your Greggs pasties for 14 minutes until golden and piping hot in the centre.
And I am sure you can see now how easy it is to air fry cheese and onion pasties and why it has become one of my favourite frozen foods.
How Long To Heat A Pasty In Air Fryer?
Greggs cheese and onion pasty cooking time is JUST 14 minutes.
Though note, this is frozen pasties that are sold uncooked from Iceland.
Therefore, if you want to heat a pasty that is already cooked that is not frozen then its much quicker. You would just need 4 minutes at 160c/320f for a simple reheat.

Did you know we have a very popular air fryer frozen food cookbook? It helps you simplify cooking with the air fryer and is filled with air fryer frozen food classics.
Including air fryer frozen mozzarella sticks, air fryer frozen French fries, air fryer frozen chicken nuggets, air fryer frozen onion rings and many others.

I am borderline vegetarian and used to live off, of these when at school from the local Greggs. So when I found them in my local Iceland I could not believe it, so I bought a few packets and thanks to your instructions they came out perfect just like I remember them. I love the air fryer after been so scared of it.
