Frozen Bao Buns
Whilst I love our air fryer frozen dumplings recipe, I am always looking for even more Chinese frozen dumplings to try in the air fryer.
Frozen bao buns came up in my Facebook feed one day and I thought one day, when I am back in England, I will try those in the air fryer.
When that time came, I loaded up a pack of Itsu bao buns into the air fryer basket and couldnโt believe that I had been missing out on these for years.
They were so delicious and i couldnโt wait to share them with you, as another frozen food you must try at home in the air fryer.
I have since bought and tried and air fried every filling I can find and my two favourite are teriyaki chicken and hoisin duck, which I will be sharing with you today.

What Is A Bao Bun?
A bao bun is a Chinese filling stuffed inside a warm dough. Itโs a type of Chinese dumpling though has a bread texture.
A bao bun is often called a steamed bun too and you will find it in a lot of Chinese restaurants and via Chinese street food.
Also because of the texture, it lends itself to been air fried.
Itโs a must buy if you have not tried Chinese steamed buns before.
Can You Buy Frozen Bao Buns?
Yes, you sure can.
If you want to know where to buy frozen bao buns near me, then look no further than your local supermarket, or your local Chinese supermarket.
Our Itsu frozen bao buns came from our local Tescoโs and we had it delivered with an online order.
Are Frozen Bao Buns Good?
Yes, they are. I was surprised by how nice the bao buns were, when cooked from frozen, but I do credit the air fryer for making them so good.
You can also mix and match with your favourite fillings and your favourite brand too. For example, I air fried the Itsu buns with the teriyaki and hoisin flavours and they were superb.
I recommend testing out a few of them and finding your dream air fryer frozen bao buns.
Can You Air Fry Bao Buns?
Yes, you sure can. Air fryer bao buns are amazing. You get a wonderful glow and crisp to the pastry from the air fryer, the filling is spectacular, and they cook perfectly.
Whilst bao buns take just 60 seconds in the microwave and are often soggy, in the air fryer basket they are still ready in an impressive 8 minutes.
Or if you donโt want golden bao buns in the air fryer, then I recommend reducing the cook time to 6 minutes.
