Air Fryer Beer Battered Fish
It feels such a long time ago now since we bought our first ever air fryer. Its was the original Philips Air Fryer and we fell in love with it at first sight.
The first thing we cooked was air fryer chicken strips and this was soon followed up with air fryer chips.
But back then we lived in Portugal and a fish and chip shop was few and far between and those that you did find were pretty awful.
So, Dominic said that he wanted to try beer battered fish in the air fryer. We tucked in and loved it and couldn’t believe like most air fryer recipes, that it wasn’t deep fried.
Then you looked down at the air fryer, and out of any air fryer recipes battered food makes the most mess and is the hardest of air fryer food to cook.
Since then, we have only ever cooked beer battered fish in the air fryer a couple of times and both agree its so much easier to bread it like we do in our homemade air fryer fish and chips.
Are You New To The Air Fryer?
Plus, as well as our extremely popular air fryer mini course which teaches you the air fryer basics in 5 days, we also have our air fryer bucket list. That is loaded with 30 FREE bucket list worthy air fryer recipes.
Click here or on the banner above and you will have access to both in an instant.
Can You Do Battered Fish In Air Fryer?
Yes, you can air fry battered fish. BUT it makes more mess than it is worth and its hard to get the batter to stick to the fish. Plus you have to partly freeze the fish to get the batter to stick, so you might as well just go frozen.
That is why I recommend instead you cook frozen beer battered fish and chips.
Can You Use A Wet Batter In An Air Fryer?
Yes, you can use a wet batter in the air fryer. But it doesn’t stick very well to the food and makes a lot of mess in the air fryer.
It’s much better doing typical breaded food such as dipping in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs. Just like we do in our air fryer cordon bleu or our air fryer schnitzel.
Or if you have a wet batter, to do it like we do an air fryer blooming onion.
Can You Cook Frozen Battered Fish And Chips Together In Air Fryer?
Yes, you sure can and we will be showing you today how to cook beer battered fish and chips together in the air fryer.
You can also combine chips in a few other air fryer recipes too. Such as our air fryer sausage and chips, air fryer steak and chips, or more recently our air fryer fish fingers and chips.
Frozen Beer Battered Cod In Air Fryer
Married to a chef and with my own love for the paleo diet, it can be a challenge sometimes to make a frozen food in the air fryer. After all, the air fryer was made to make us healthier.
But we get many requests for frozen food in the air fryer and we like to help our readers best we can.
So, we didn’t have much interest in this frozen beer battered cod in the air fryer.
And then we tried it and OMG the M&S beer battered cod has to be the best frozen fish we have ever eaten. And so much better than the Iceland breaded one we used in our air fryer frozen fish and chips.
The hubby who is always offended when pubs serve frozen fish and chips, said he would order this on a restaurant menu every time.
Though I do think frozen battered foods have the wow factor in the air fryer compared to breaded.
Beer Battered Fish Air Fryer Ingredients
Fish – I much prefer the beer battered cod from M&S but you can swap for any favourite battered fish fillet. You can also easily fit two in the air fryer to do enough to feed two.
Chips – We paired our frozen battered cod with a portion of McCain frozen Gatro Chips (our favourite).
Peas – The mushy peas are of course optional, but if you want an authentic fish and chip shop experience in the air fryer then they are a must!
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in frozen battered fish in air fryer it has just been our Cosori air fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.
Plus, we recommend you head over to our air fryer recipes category as we have more than 500 tried and tested air fryer recipes and have been air frying for 10 years.
