Air Fryer Chicken Marinade
I have owned air fryers since 2011, have been sharing air fryer recipes with you on Recipe This since 2015 and have truly lost count of the amount of times that I have marinated chicken in the air fryer. This especially applies to chicken breast.
Unless you are a seasoned user of the air fryer it is so easy to cook air fryer chicken breast that is dry and tasteless.
However, cook chicken breast in an air fryer loaded with a chicken marinade and you have a totally different air fryer chicken experience.
Plus, you don’t have to stop at chicken. The same can apply when it comes to cooking pork, beef, lamb or even duck in the air fryer.
It is just a case of planning your setup, choosing your meat and of course your favourite chicken marinade.
Can Marinated Chicken Go In Air Fryer?
Yes it can. Marinated chicken suits the air fryer and the air fryer does an amazing job of producing perfectly cooked marinated chicken.
You have two considerations when it comes to marinated chicken in air fryer:
- Use a dry rub and no air fryer accessories are required
- Use a wet or sticky marinade and you will need an air fryer baking pan or similar
When you choose option #1 you are cooking air fryer seasoned chicken breast. You have loaded up your favourite chicken breast with flavour and you would cook it like our air fryer chicken breast.
Or you can use this opportunity to make zero calorie chicken marinade. Perfect for if you follow Weight Watchers or Slimming World. Season you chicken breast with zero point dry herbs and spices and you have a flavoursome chicken breast.
But if you are going with option#2 then you will need an air fryer baking pan similar to the one below:
It is a popular accessory on our Philips Air Fryer Accessories List. And is traditionally used for cooking air fryer brownies, but I love it for anything in a sauce that I want to cook in the air fryer. I have even used them to make air fryer hard boiled eggs.
Marinated Chicken In Air Fryer Setup
What I recommend when cooking marinated chicken in the air fryer is that you have a setup in place before you get started.
You gather your marinade ingredients and if you plan to marinate for the freezer that you have containers for each chicken marinade flavour.

How To Cook Marinated Chicken Breast In Air Fryer?
Cooking marinated chicken breast in the air fryer is one of the EASIEST EVER air fryer methods.
- Prep your marinade
- Smother your chicken breast in your marinade.
- Load into the air fryer baking pan.
- Load your air fryer baking pan into the air fryer basket.
- Cook and eat.
How Long To Air Fry Marinated Chicken Breast?
Air fryer marinated chicken breast varies depending on what marinade you are using and what you are air frying it in.
As a guide most air fryer chicken marinades will have a cook time of 25 minutes for large chicken breasts that are cooked in cake pans.
However, a chicken chunks cooked in the air fryer basket require less and usually involve a cook time of 15 minutes.

My #1 all time favourite air fryer chicken marinade is air fryer lemon chicken and below you can print off our lemon chicken recipe in full and then use this as your guide.
If you don’t like lemon chicken, then swap it out for your own favourite marinade and just use our chicken marinades as a guide for you own.
Air Fryer Chicken Marinade Recipes
Ingredients

Air Fryer Chicken Marinade Ingredients:
- 2 Chicken Breasts
- 2 Large Lemons juice only
- 5 Medium Garlic Cloves
- 1 Tsp Oregano
- Salt & Pepper
Instructions
- Rub the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Peel and dice the garlic cloves.
- Place the ingredients together in a freezer bag including the chicken and shake.
- After an hour cook in the Airfryer for 15 minutes at 180c/360f in its baking pan.
- Place your marinated chicken breasts into your air fryer basket or air fryer baking pan.
- Cook your chicken breasts for 25 minutes at 180c/360f.
