    Ahhhhhh!!!!! Help!

I bought a B&D Air Fry oven 3 days ago. I wanted to cook a 1kg frozen lasagne but alll the recipes give a temperature to cook at. With my air fry oven that’s not air frying – that’s baking. To air fry you set theTEMP KNOB to “AIRFRY” which automatically cooks at 450F. Air Fry (allegedly) conversion charts give a temp for every item! So air frying isn’t recommended for a frozen lasagne, since the temp will be set to high? Do other ovens not have it so you have to choose either the “AIRFRY” setting or the temp setting? I can “bake” it if I have to but I’d prefer to air fry most items. The recipes dont help at all.

    1. Hi Peter,

An air fryer shouldn’t be that high a temperature and it shouldn’t be the only temperature. If that is the case i would recommend returning it and getting an air fryer oven with better choice of temperatures. For example if should be doing 250-400f. Otherwise you will struggle to follow hardly any air fryer recipes as most recipes require a 360f temperature.

      kind regards

Do I remove the plastic part on Top of it that you’re supposed to leave on if you bake it in the oven? EDIT: After doing the recipe like you said it turned out great have done it several times since thanks.

    1. Hi Angela,

Yes we took it of just because in an air fryer most of the heat comes from the top and with the plastic cover on it will end up reflecting most of the heat away from the lasagne 🙂

I was looking for this same question about air frying a frozen lasgna with the plastic covering and did not know to leave it on or knot. thanks I just bought from Walmart a 17qt. OMMO air fryer and am learning how to use it. I found that with the chicken it seems to require more cooking time than is required. with a breast it said to cook at 180 for 15min. but it needed a lot more.

    1. Hi Sandy,

Glad you are learning your air fryer and yes different air fryers cook foods at different times and temps. So we try to generalise the best we can with the couple of air fryers we use 🙂

    2. Was that at 180 Fahrenheit or 180 Celsius? 180 Celsius would be 360 Fahrenheit, and that’s about right for chicken to cook.

    1. Hi Kerrie,

Sorry for the late reply. We had a plastic container for ours so we left it in it, the wax paper should be ok if it is heat proof 🙂

  4. I HAVE AN AIR FRYER WITH 3 SHELVES + A BASKET (REPLACES SHELVES). I HAVE NOTICED RECIPES DO NOT TELL ME WHICH SHELF TO AIR FRY FROM? I AM USING THE MIDDLE SHELF MOST TIMES AND THE TOP SHELF TO BROWN WHEN NEEDED. ARE MOST FOODS COOKED ON THE MIDDLE SHELF?

Hi Samantha, I live in Australia and I’m loving all your recipes as I’m a newbie, but have tried quite a few already and I find your descriptions easy to follow, also they’re “everyday” meals. I feel mainly because I have an Air Fryer with basket and not one of the “Air Fryer Ovens” with shelving, so I feel I fit right in with you and Dominic.
I love it here that you’ve given us a recipe on how you do an “Air Fryer Frozen Lasagne” which I didn’t know we could do as there’s only hubby and I now and these make a quick little meal with a side salad.
Thank you for giving me so many wonderful meal ideas that can be made so much quicker in the Air Fryer than “the ‘ol oven”. I only ever use the oven when our family comes for dinner now.
Keep all those “wonderful” recipes coming as after 55 yrs of marriage of was running out of ideas what to make next. Thank you!

    1. Hi Josephine,

Thank you for the wonderful comments and i am really happy we are giving you new ideas and you are finding value in what we do 🙂

      Kind Regards

I did the Iceland Beef and Pancetta al Forno Lasagne 450g in my Tower Vortex air fryer, followed the recipe with the 10 min defrost at 100 c and then 26 min at 160 c. It came out perfect.
