Love tempura shrimp, then you must cook air fryer frozen tempura shrimp. It is crispy, it is delicious, and it’s cooked in the air fryer fast.

Its also much cheaper than takeout and less messy than making your own tempura shrimp in the air fryer.

Frozen Tempura Shrimp

I am a HUGE movie addict and one of my favourite actors is Tom Hanks. On a Sunday Dominic calls it Tom Hanks day just because I always manage to squeeze in at least 2 Tom Hanks movies every Sunday.

My favourite Tom Hanks movies are The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Philadelphia and Castaway.

I love a lot more than those, but if I had to choose just 5 those would be it.

One that gets the most viewings in our home is Forrest Gump. It was released when I was 12 years old and it gave me a wonderful child like history lesson on the United States.

In school we were being educated about World War 2 and other British historical events and I don’t think a single kid in our school knew about the key historical events mentioned in the movie.

One part of Forrest Gump that I love is Bumba Gump talking about all the different ways that you can eat shrimp. Many of which, I still have not tried. Not good when you live in a house with anti-shrimp husband!

Can You Air Fry Shrimp Tempura?

Absolutely! When you air fry shrimp tempura using your air fryer basket it cooks just as good as it would in a deep fat fryer, it not better.

There is no mess in the air fryer basket, and it comes out so crispy you would think it had been shallow fried.

Can You Air Fry Tempura Batter?

Yes, you can air fry tempura batter, but its hard work. You need to freeze, then cook from frozen, in the hope that you wont turn your air fryer into a batter mess.

What is much better, is to buy frozen tempura shrimp and cook it from frozen in the air fryer instead.

Where To Buy Frozen Tempura Shrimp?

We bought our tempura shrimp from Iceland and love the choice of frozen foods that we get from Iceland that we can cook in the air fryer.

But here are a few other brand alternatives that you can buy from and then cook in the air fryer:

Air Fryer Prawn Tempura

Here in Europe we don’t use the word shrimp, instead it is prawns. In fact, the first time I ever heard the word “shrimp” would have been when we first watched Forrest Gump.

To us Brits you had small prawns, or king prawns and are very much like shrimp but ours tend to be smaller than the American equivalent.

If you notice in the picture our air fryer frozen tempura shrimp is called prawn tempura. But it is still the same food, just with a different name from the other side of the ocean.

Air Fryer Tempura Ingredients

Shrimp – You will need a pack of frozen shrimp tempura that you can then load into the air fryer and cook. I find tempura frozen shrimp packs to be small, so you might want to do 2 boxes of them.

Spray – If you want a crisp on your air fryer shrimp tempura, then I highly recommend some extra virgin olive oil spray. Its fantastic and you only need a small bit which is not even a teaspoon of oil.

Is Tempura Shrimp Cooked?

Yes, it is. Normally when you buy frozen shrimp tempura it will be premade and precooked.

This makes it even easier for you to cook frozen shrimp tempura in the air fryer because it has a quick cook time, and the batter goes extremely crispy.

In fact, I had to fight Jorge for the last one.

How To Cook Shrimp Tempura In Air Fryer?

• Load. Place your frozen tempura shrimp in the air fryer.
• Air Fry. Next, air fry tempura for 8 minutes at 180c/360f.
• Serve. Then serve straight away whilst crispy and warm.

How Long Should You Air Fry Shrimp?

The shrimp cook times can vary from air fryer shrimp recipe. But 8 minutes works well with a lot of the air fryer shrimp frozen food.

How Long Do You Cook Frozen Tempura Shrimp?

It doesn’t take long at all to air fry tempura shrimp. In fact, we cooked frozen tempura in the air fryer in JUST 8 minutes.

And it was heated through in 6 its just 8 made it super crispy and addictive.

How To Reheat Shrimp Tempura?

If you didn’t manage to eat all the shrimp tempura (I don’t know how you leave any!!!) then you can load it back into the air fryer and reheat.

Set the temperature to 180c/360f and the cook time to 2 minutes and then you will have perfectly reheated shrimp.
