Reheat Chicken Wings

Dominic and I are not big eaters. Well unless you have a big bar of chocolate of course, but overall, we don’t eat big portion sizes. Our frugal mindset loved it in the US when we visited, as we could share a meal between the 2 of us and it saved us a tonne of money.

We’re the ones in the pizza restaurant that asks for a pizza box, so that we can take the rest of it home with us. Or when we go for a KFC you can guarantee we will not quite finish it all.

The KFC bucket is a good example. You get so much stuff that there is no way that 2 people could eat that. Well unless you’re Joey from Friends!

From our last trip to KFC on my birthday we ended up with 10 spare KFC hot wings.

We portioned them up into two bags of 5 hot wings and placed them into small zip loc bags and saved them for later in our freezer.

Today became that “later” when we had a craving for some hot wings and decided to show you how to reheat chicken wings in the air fryer.

Can You Freeze Chicken Wings?

Yes, you can. Just like I show you in this reheat fried chicken post, frozen chicken wings are amazing for saving for later. You can use KFC hot wings (like we have done) or use any type of chicken wings.

Load them into the freezer in a zip loc bag and then you have them for later.

Can You Reheat Chicken Wings In An Air Fryer?

Absolutely and that is what we plan to show you today. Throw frozen or thawed precooked chicken wings in the air fryer and be amazed by how good they are.

When reheating chicken wings in air fryer remember:

  • They must be reheated properly to avoid sickness
  • That you don’t overcrowd the air fryer
  • That you have your favourite dipping sauce to hand for dunking

Can You Reheat Chicken Wings The Next Day?

Yes, you can. Simply place your chicken wings leftovers in the fridge and then reheat them the next day. You can store them in the box you bought them in, or any suitable kitchen container.

How Long Are Leftover Wings Good For?

Normally chicken wings would be good for 3 days. Though if you bought your chicken wings from a fast food establishment make sure you consume them within 2 days. Because in many fast food places the chicken wings will be made ahead of time and aren’t necessarily completely fresh when they are sold to you.

How To Reheat Chicken Wings To Make Them Crispy?

You cook it in the air fryer of course. We have found that the best way to reheat wings is to air fry them and then they are similar to how you originally purchased them from KFC or when you originally cooked them yourself.

Or even better if you followed our air fryer frozen chicken wings recipe, you can use your leftovers from that and reheat what you didn’t eat.

How To Reheat Wings In An Air Fryer?

If you want to reheat chicken wings, the best way to reheat chicken wings is in the air fryer and you can do it like this:

  1. Load chicken wings leftovers into the air fryer basket.
  2. Spray the skin with extra virgin olive oil.
  3. Air fry + enjoy!

How Long Do You Reheat Chicken In Air Fryer?

The reheat chicken time in the air fryer can vary depending on what type of the chicken you are reheating. I love the fact that chicken wings are much smaller and therefore have a much quicker cook time.

In fact, these KFC hot wings that we reheated in the air fryer took JUST 8 minutes. Perfect for my daughter Sofia who is the biggest chicken wings addict that I have ever met.

Reheat Wings In Ninja Foodi?

You can also reheat wings in the Ninja Foodi. To do this, do the same as what we have done today with an air fryer basket, but add on an extra 2 minutes of cook time.

Notes

Quantities. I recommend no more than 10 frozen KFC hot wings to be cooked at the same time. This is because you don’t want them to stick together and they wont get as crispy. 8 minutes is enough cooking time for up to 10 KFC hot wings from frozen.
Crispy. If your chicken wings are not crispy enough, then I recommend an olive oil spray bottle and giving your leftovers a spray for the last 3 minutes of cooking.

    • Hi Bonnie

I would just keep the temp down around 100c/210f or even wrap the wings in tin foil and then they would re heat as normal and with no direct heat on them they would not burn or smoke ????
