Reheat McDonalds Fries
The first person that ever introduced me to reheating takeout was my mum. I would watch as she would order a takeaway to be delivered and then warm up dinner plates in the microwave. Then when the takeaway arrived, she would also warm it up in the microwave.
Complaining that it was not hot enough.
She had a point, and you wonder how far up the list you were on the delivery guys list because it always felt warm but never hot.
Fast forward to our home in Portugal. We are a 20 minute drive away from the nearest McDonalds or 10 minutes away from the Portuguese equivalent of Burger King. Whenever we bring home food to eat and don’t eat it at the fast food place it will be cold.
We will then use the air fryer as our reheat tool and will have perfect fries, burger and nuggets to tuck into.
Today, what I wanted to do was show you my method for the best way to reheat McDonalds fries.
Can You Reheat McDonalds Fries?
You certainly can reheat McDonalds Fries. I have been reheating my McDonalds fries for years, just because after the drive home they are always cold.
Or as the mother of 2 under 7’s I have found that when I buy them a McDonalds Happy Meal, they never ever finish it and leave loads of fries at the bottom of the box.
I am not willing to waste all these fries, so they are ideal for reheating the next day and giving them to the kids with some ketchup.
Can You Reheat McDonalds Fries In An Air Fryer?
Yes, you can! The best way to reheat McDonald’s fries is in the air fryer. The air fryer is fantastic because it is making your McDonalds fries crispy again and they wont have that soggy texture that you get when you reheat fries in the microwave.
Also, because McDonalds French Fries are so thin, they have a quick air fryer cook time. Making it ideal for when you brought a McDonalds home with you and are starving hungry and don’t want to wait for your food.
How To Reheat McDonalds Fries In Air Fryer?
If you want to reheat McDonald’s French fries in the air fryer then this is how its done:
- Load leftover fries into the air fryer basket.
- Cook on a low to medium heat.
- Shake and spray with preferred oil.
- Air fry on high for an extra minute.
- Serve.
The most important lesson to learn in reheating fries is the temperature change and the extra virgin olive oil spray. Starting at a lower temperature ensures that the fries are piping hot and that they are going to be warmed through. Or as chef Dominic at Recipe This states, it allows you to reheat and not recook.
Then the adding of the extra virgin olive oil is for crisping your fries and then the high temperature that follows is for making your fries crispy.
In summary, you are using the air fryer to reheat your fries and make them crispy. So avoid going in at a high temperature straight away or you will end up with dry fries, and nobody wants that do they?
How Long To Reheat McDonalds Fries?
The air fryer cook time for reheating McDonalds French Fries is much faster than you would think. In fact, it took JUST 4 minutes.
It starts with 3 minutes at 160c/320f to warm up your fries and then after a shake, the temperature increases to 180c/360f for the final minute.
