Reheat Rotisserie Chicken
I was so shocked that I sat there with my mouth wide open for about 5 minutes struggling to get a word out and struggling on what to say back in the email.
It was from one of my regular readers of Recipe This and they wanted to reheat rotisserie chicken in the air fryer.
They had scrolled through the front page of Google and result after result was telling them that to reheat a rotisserie chicken in the air fryer would take 3 minutes.
3 minutes.
I mean seriously? Who writes this stuff?
If logically you reheat fries in air fryer in 3-4 minutes, then how on earth can a whole chicken be reheated in 3 minutes????
I mentioned this to the chef hubby, and I got a lecture on the rules regarding piping hot chicken when you reheat it.
We apologised to our reader, reheated a whole chicken the next day and gave them the correct times, which you guessed it….is 10 times more than what the reader had read online.
Today, is our full guide for how to reheat chicken using the air fryer. That will be safe to eat, will be moist, will not be dry and will make you forget that you are eating the rotisserie chicken after it has been reheated.

Can You Reheat Rotisserie Chicken?
Yes, you can, and I will be showing you how to reheat rotisserie chicken today using the air fryer, which is the best method.
You can also reheat your chicken using the rotisserie feature on the air fryer oven, or even use the electric pressure cooker.
Can I Reheat A Rotisserie Chicken In The Air Fryer?
Yes, you can. Its one of those things that you don’t realise tastes so good and is so easy until you do it.
The best option for rotisserie chicken reheating, is to do it in a similar way to how you cooked either air fryer whole chicken or air fryer rotisserie chicken. I.e. either in the air fryer basket or using the rotisserie of the air fryer oven.
The air fryer also requires very little oil (no oil for a reheat) making it lower in calories compared to other methods.
Can You Reheat Any Cooked Chicken In An Air Fryer?
Yes, you can. I have had great success with many different chicken dishes that I have reheated in the air fryer.
The first I ever did was reheating chicken wings in the air fryer, but I also love reheat chicken tenders in air fryer, reheat KFC chicken in air fryer and so many more.
As a food blogger, I often taking several pictures of photos after eating, or videoing the process and find that reheating the leftovers in the air fryer is the best solution.
And now you know the best way to reheat a rotisserie chicken, lets do it!
Reheating Rotisserie Chicken Ingredients
Chicken – Start with your cooked chicken. It is okay if you have eaten some of it already and you want to cook the rest. If any skin has been removed from your roast chicken, rub lemon juice into these bits as it will stop it from being dry when reheated.
Thermometer – I don’t use a thermometer with most air fryer recipes, but to check that an air fryer whole chicken is piping hot again as there is nothing worse than food poisoning its best to check with a thermometer.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used for reheating rotisserie chicken in air fryer it has just been our Cosori Air Fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.
Plus, we recommend you head over to our air fryer recipes category as we have more than 500 tried and tested air fryer recipes and have been air frying for 10 years.
How To Reheat A Rotisserie Chicken In The Air Fryer?
- Load. Place your cold rotisserie chicken in the air fryer basket.
- Cook. Air fry for 30 minutes at 160c/320f for a medium sized rotisserie chicken.
- Check. Then check in the fattest part with a thermometer to make sure your chicken reads 70c/165f and is then piping hot and safe for eating.
And I am sure you can see now how easy it is reheating a rotisserie chicken in the air fryer and why it has become one of my favourite air fryer reheats.
How To Reheat Rotisserie Chicken Without Drying It Out?
The key to reheating rotisserie chicken in the air fryer and NOT drying it out is the temperature and time.
You can’t reheat a chicken at a higher temperature because it will dry out the chicken and instead of reheating the chicken it will cook the chicken again.
Reheat Refrigerated Rotisserie Chicken
Check out this picture of our rotisserie chicken sat in the fridge.
It has leftovers from our minced beef hotpot above it and its just waiting to be reheated in the air fryer.
What we did was grabbed the leftover whole chicken from the fridge, then placed it straight away into our air fryer.
Don’t think just because its chilled, doesn’t mean you have to wait and bring it to room temperature first, because you don’t.
You can literally buy a whole chicken from Tesco’s and then load it into the fridge for dinner the next day and then reheat.

Reheat Rotisserie Chicken In Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 1 Leftover Rotisserie Chicken
Kitchen Gadgets
Instructions
- Place your cold rotisserie chicken in the air fryer and make sure it is breast side up and not touching the top of the air fryer.
- Cook for 30 minutes at 160c/360f.
- Check that is cooked with a thermometer and reading 75c/165f before serving.
I’m about to give this one a try but I just wanted to give you a friendly heads up that in the photo where you show the temperature on the air fryer, you translated the 160 Celsius to 360 Fahrenheit instead of 320. I just didn’t want somebody to see that and go by that temp causing a bad result therefore leaving you an unfair review.
Well reheated chicken. I followed another recipe and it said 3 minutes? Mine was cold inside your timings are so on point most of the time and this one is as well. My chicken turned out hot and not over cooked.
