Reheat Fish And Chips
My parents loved the Indian restaurant for a quick dinner fix or ringing up for a doner kebab after a busy workday. So, fish and chips were never top of the list on a Friday night.
However, if I visited my grandparents, Friday night was always Friday fish supper.
They would queue at a fish and chip shop and order fish and chips each with mushy peas.
Even though my other grandad was a fisherman I never ever really enjoyed fish and chips and would ask for chips and scraps.
My grandad would look at me as if to say, “you can have fish” and was surprised that I got such enjoyment out of the fish batter and was perfectly happy with chips and scraps.
That was early 90’s and I am still obsessed with chips and scraps, whilst my hubby is all about the fish and chips.
So rather than showing you just how to reheat fish and chips, we are also sharing with you how to reheat chips and scraps as well as fish shop fishcakes.
Therefore, grab your leftovers and lets get reheating for the best reheated food ever.

Can You Reheat Fish And Chips?
Yes, you can reheat fish and chips and I highly recommend doing so. Back in the 90’s compared to now the fish and chips portion has got bigger and bigger and it’s a great way to enjoy your fish and chips over two mealtimes.
Plus, back then our only reheat option was the microwave and now we have air fryers.
Can You Reheat Fishcakes?
Yes, you can also reheat fishcakes. Just like with fish, fishcakes also reheat very well.
I have tried a few different ones from battered to breaded and found that they are all perfect reheated in the air fryer.
You can also reheat other chip shop favourites too such as pies, sausages, fish bites, scampi, fritters etc.
Can You Reheat Scraps?
Yes, alongside all the other leftovers you have reheat from the chippy, you can also reheat scraps.
I first reheated scraps when we first arrived back in the UK last summer after 13 years away. I had asked the chippy for extra scraps (because I had missed them so much) and they gave me an enormous portion.
I then reheated the scraps in the Ninja Foodi and OMG they were better than when you first buy them from the chippy. So crispy and with less grease.
Though don’t reheat scraps in the microwave as they tend to go greasier and soggy.
What Are Scraps?
Scraps are a Northern England thing and are the batter that has dropped off the fish as the fish has been deep fried.
These little bits of batter are known as scraps or batter bits and taste amazing with some chip shop chips.
Best Way To Reheat Fish And Chips?
The best way to reheat fish and chips is in the air fryer. I have tried other methods such as the microwave and nothing beats the way the air fryer reheats.
You can reheat fish and chips together, do it separately and also reheat mushy peas and other leftovers at the same.
The air fryer is the best way for reheating fish and chips because it makes them crispy again and doesn’t turn them soggy compared to the microwave.
Reheating Fish & Chips In Air Fryer
Leftovers – Grab whatever you have leftover from your fish supper. We have 2 portions of chips, scraps, and fish and chips.
Foil – You will also need some foil. Especially if you are reheating scraps. This is for when the scraps go through the gaps into the bottom of the air fryer.
Vinegar – We also recommend a little extra salt and vinegar on your fish and chips as you serve them. This is because they lose the salt and pepper flavour when they are left in the fridge overnight.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in how to reheat fish and chips it has been our Cosori, Ninja Foodi and our Philips Air Fryer. Just because we can run them at the same time.
Plus, we recommend you head over to our air fryer recipes category as we have more than 500 tried and tested air fryer recipes and have been air frying for 10 years.

Reheat Chip Shop Chips & Scraps
If you just have leftover chip shop chips and scraps (always in our house as kids never finish their chips) then you can load them into the air fryer or microwave to reheat.
If reheating in the microwave it will take just 90 seconds on your dinner plate.
Or if reheating in the air fryer 4 minutes at 160c.
Though also refer to our reheat fries in the microwave, and our reheat fries in the air fryer, as both go into much more detail.
How Do You Reheat A Fish Cake?
If you want to reheat fishcakes in air fryer, then its not much different to the fish and chips, just a different cook time.
Place leftover fishcakes in the air fryer basket and air fry for 5 minutes at 160c/320f.
Though if you have a really tall battered fishcake, you might need to add an extra couple of minutes of cook time.

- Or for the microwave option add your leftover chips and scraps onto a plate and load into the microwave. Microwave for 90 seconds or until piping hot.
Finally a great way to re-heat fish and chips. It is alot better than using the microwave or the oven. The microwave makes them so soggy and by the time the oven heats up they either over cook or they take ages, so thanks for this.
