Fillet Steak In Air Fryer

If you have followed Recipe This for a while, then you will know I am obsessed with steak in the air fryer.

I love air fryer sirloin steak, air fryer ribeye steak, air fryer rump steak as well as beef alternatives such as air fryer pork steak and air fryer tuna steak.

Plus, we also have a great guide showing you how to cook steak in the air fryer.

But if you want the best steak ever for your air fryer, then nothing will ever beat air fryer fillet steak.

I bought some from the butchers and planned to update our air fryer fillet steak recipe for a while, and then another and another air fryer recipe came up and it was still sat there in the freezer.

Dominic said, that he was still hoping for his fillet steak, so I got it out of the freezer, thawed it and here I finally am sharing my love for the best air fryer steak you will ever have.

Best Way To Cook Fillet Steak?

The best way to cook fillet steak is in the air fryer, it is also the easiest way to cook fillet steak.

I know many unexperienced home cooks that find it scary to do steak in a pan because they are worried that the pan is not hot enough, it will spit at them or not knowing when to turn it.

Whilst with air fryer fillet steaks, you load them into the air fryer and simply turn them halfway through.

Can You Air Fry Fillet Steak?

Yes, you can air fry fillet steak. Fillet steak is amazing and thanks to its tenderloin shape, you could cook 4 fillet steaks at once, or even cook steak and chips at the same time.

You can also air fry most cuts of steak from sirloin to thin cut steak to ribeye.

Is Steak In An Air Fryer Good?

Yes, steak in the air fryer is very good. I am always amazed at how good air fryer steak is and each time we have it, I wonder why we don’t have it more often.

We have been cooking steak in the air fryer for many years now and even cook air fryer frozen steak for when we have forgotten to thaw first.

What Is Fillet Steak?

Fillet steak is steak that has been cut from the tenderloin of the beef. It is often referred to as beef tenderloin steak, as well as by its most famous name of fillet steak.

Fillet steak is not very long and has a round shape to it. Its also popular in steak restaurants around the world.

Because steak fillets come from the tenderloin its also the best steak you could ever buy.

Fillet or Filet?

Fillet is the way us Brits spell it, and filet is how our friends across the pond spell it.

Its totally personal choice if you are fillet or filet.

Also, if you are in the USA, you are more likely to refer to it as air fryer filet mignon, rather than air fryer fillet steak.

But rest assured filet mignon in air fryer and fillet steak in air fryer are one of the same.

Fillet Steak Air Fryer Ingredients

Steak – Depending where you live, you will need either 2 fillet mignon steaks or 2 fillet steaks. I prefer a thicker cut, otherwise you are not getting much steak for your money and 6oz is my favourite size.

Seasoning. Then for seasoning your fillet steak I recommend keeping it simple. Steak is amazing on its own, especially steak fillet and add too much seasoning and you take the taste away from the best feature. I recommend just some salt and pepper on each side.

Can You Recommend An Air Fryer?

I often get asked which air fryers I recommend and which one I use. In 95% of our air fryer recipes, we use either the Philips Air Fryer XL or the Cosori XL because they are the best ones, we have found out of many air fryers we have tried over the years. You can click on the links above and read up on them. But if you would rather have a dual air fryer we recommend this Ninja Dual (make sure you order the right one as not all are good) or the Philips Dual.

How To Cook Fillet Steak In Air Fryer?

  • Season. Start by seasoning your steak ready for the air fryer. For fillet we recommend a good sprinkling of sea salt and black pepper. You can also add another seasoning of choice such as dried steak seasoning, smoked paprika or some garlic powder.
  • Cook. Load the fillet into the air fryer. For an average air fryer size, you can fit two into the basket! Then start cooking fillet steak in air fryer. We recommend 8 minutes at 180c/360f.
  • Turn. As the air fryer hits the halfway cook time, turn the steak over with tongs and then re-season on the other side before carrying on with the final cook time.

And I am sure you can see now how easy it is to cook fillet steak in air fryer and why you should be doing it too!

How To Cook Steak In Ninja Dual Air Fryer?

If you would like to cook fillet steak in air fryer ninja, then you can do that too. Set the button to air fry and also you can fit two fillet steaks in one drawer and then cook our air fryer chips in the other.

How To Season Fillet Steak

Seasoning your fillet steak is simple and it can be done directly in the air fryer basket or on a clean chopping board.

Simply sprinkle salt and pepper over the steak, and don’t do it too close because you want an even coating on your steak.

Then after the fillet steak has done its cook on one side, turn over and season again on the other side.

How Long To Cook Fillet Steak In Air Fryer?

The air fryer fillet steak cook time will vary depending on whether you want rare, medium rare, medium, medium to well, or even well done.

Though well done fillet steak in my opinion totally ruins it and I am more a medium rare kind of girl.

How Long To Cook Fillet Steak

Our medium rare fillet steak took 4 minutes on each side, however if I wanted medium 6 minutes on each side would have been spot on.

Now for fillet steak temperature I recommend 180c/360f regardless of if you want rare, medium, or well done steak.

Sam & Doms Top Tips For Success

We find that air fryer steak is cooked the exact same way regardless of whether or not it is t bone, fillet, sirloin, or another type of steak. Its also much simpler compared to steak in a pan. Simply flip the steak halfway through.

Another important tip You can also cook your fillet steak with some of your favourite sides. For example, air fryer frozen shrimp takes the same time to cook. So why not cook a handful of frozen king prawns/shrimp with your steak?
