Reheating Burger In Air Fryer
Whenever we go to McDonalds, I always complain that if we bring it home with us or get a McDonalds delivery that it is stone cold by the time, I get it.
So, a few years ago, when we lived in Portugal, I tried reheating my Big Mac in the air fryer, Dom did the same with his Quarter Pounder and the kids did that with their chicken nuggets.
It was such a success that it made us want to reheat more different foods in the air fryer, and now whenever we get a burger, it will never be cold and is will have been reheated in the air fryer.
You can follow our original reheat McDonalds fries in the air fryer, or our reheat McDonalds nuggets in the air fryer.
So lets dive into reheating hamburgers in air fryer, adding more cheese, as you must have more cheese and how to easily get them to the correct internal temperature.
What To Do With Leftover Hamburgers?
My first thought when it comes to leftover hamburgers is always to leave them in the fridge and reheat them in the air fryer the next day. It’s a fantastic way to save making a meal and making sure you don’t have any food waste.
But because cooked burgers have a short fridge life, if tomorrow is not possible, I recommend freezing your burgers.
You can load your leftover hamburgers into freezer bags and place them in the freezer for later.
Can You Use An Air Fryer To Heat Up Food?
I often get asked if you can use an air fryer to heat up food and I always reply with it being one of my favourite uses of the air fryer.
The air fryer is fantastic for heating up food.
It doesn’t have to be limited to fast food either. I have reheated everything from mashed potatoes to meatballs to vegetables to egg rolls in the air fryer.

Can You Reheat Cooked Burgers?
Yes, you can! But you still need to be cautious because of food poisoning and similar problems that can occur if you don’t reheat thoroughly.
I recommend you check the thickest part of the hamburger to make sure it is piping hot before serving. Also, don’t reheat a burger that has been left out for too long in the heat.
Can You Reheat A Burger In The Air Fryer?
Yes, you can reheat a burger in the air fryer. Burgers can be reheated on their own, I.e. a hamburger patty left over that you forgot about. Or you can reheat a whole Big Mac if you wanted to.
Best Way To Reheat Burger In Air Fryer?
We recommend reheating a burger in air fryer by removing the burger bun and the salad garnish and just reheating the burger and the cheese and maybe if you have a bacon burger, to reheat any bacon that you have too.
Then also adding in extra cheese, then when serving you can add extra mayonnaise, burger sauce etc.
What To Do With Leftover Hamburgers?
You can of course, follow our instructions and reheat a hamburger using an air fryer, but you can also transform it into something else.
My absolute favourite is to make a burger in a bowl and then you can reheat the burgers in the air fryer, and transform it into a delicious burger salad.

Can You Recommend An Air Fryer?
I often get asked which air fryers I recommend and which one I use. In 95% of our air fryer recipes, we use either the Philips Air Fryer XL or the Cosori XL because they are the best ones, we have found out of many air fryers we have tried over the years. You can click on the links above and read up on them. But if you would rather have a dual air fryer we recommend this Ninja Dual (make sure you order the right one as not all are good) or the Philips Dual.
How To Reheat Burger In Air Fryer?
- Prep. Start by deconstructing your burger. The burger bun will go hard if it’s reheated with the burger (I made this mistake when I originally reheated the burger). Also remove the lettuce as you don’t want warm lettuce.
- Single. Then place the cold burger into the air fryer basket on foil or on a paper liner and air fry at 160c/320f for 10 minutes.
- Double. For a double you will need to separate the burgers, otherwise the top burger will be reheated too much and the other will not. Then aim for 10 minutes at 160c/320f.
- Cheesy. If you would like to reheat a burger in air fryer and add extra cheese, then halfway through cooking add a slice of cheese.
- Assemble. Then put your reheated burger back together again and you can always add some extra salad, more cheese, bacon etc.
And that is reheating burger in air fryer!
How Long To Reheat Burger In Air Fryer?
Reheating hamburgers in air fryer takes 7-10 minutes, depending on the size of your burgers and whether or not your air fryer is preheated. For example, because we reheated air fryer burgers in batches our air fryer ended up preheated and this reduced the cook time.
And the burgers in air fryer temp is 160c/320f the recommended temperature for reheating in the air fryer.

Reheat Burger In Air Fryer
Instructions
- Unwrap your leftover burger and put to one side the packaging, salad garnish that you don’t want to warm up and the burger bun.
- If the burger comes in foil, you can reheat it in the foil to save on washing up and to avoid a dirty air fryer. Then place the burgers in the air fryer and reheat for 10 minutes at 160c/320f.
- However, if you would like a layer of melted cheese and to create the best cheeseburger, halfway through the cook time add some melted cheese.
- Then serve your burger with the salad items, burger bun and any extra sauces you wanted to add back in.
Can you also temp it with a meat thermometer? What should the temp be for a reheat?
Hi Mary Anne,
Really between 60-70 but the reason why we cook things like chicken over 70c is to kill all germs to a safe eating level, so if the burger has been cooked properly and then put in the fridge say overnight then from 60c should be fine 🙂
I tried mine with a burger king whopper and the times work just as good with a whopper, thanks.
Reheating a burger in the air fryer a genius idea. Mine turned out so fresh and the way the bun is a little toasty is just superb, thanks and i love my air fryer the more i realize what it can do.
I got some quarter pounder´s and was going to put them in the microwave then i found your post and tried them in my air fryer which i have not had for long and your instructions were fantastic and the burgers OMG turned out as thought they had just been cooked thanks.
