McDonald’s chicken nuggets has become mine and the hubby’s frugal fast food snack at the shopping centre for some time now. We have a small shopping centre here in Portugal that is not like the size of the shopping centre that you would associate with the US or the UK.
A small food court sits on the top floor and there is a lack of choices that we like. With too many places that we have had a bad experience and bad customer service, has left us with just a few.
Then there are always those times when you are shopping with the kids and you want something mega fast.
Since having small kids our new favourite has been some McDonalds Chicken Nuggets. We would get the larger family sharing pack of 20 and then dip it into the McDonalds sweet and sour sauce. So yummy and incredibly cheap too. Then I would have it on the side while sharing some soup with the kids.
So, when I mentioned to Dominic that I wanted to take some McDonalds chicken nuggets home to show people how to reheat them, he jumped at the chance.
Though, I made sure he brought plenty of sweet and sour sauce home with him!

You certainly can. Reheating McDonalds chicken nuggets is amazing. But you need to do it a certain way otherwise you will end up with horrible chicken nuggets with a rubbery texture. Kind of think of the time you have reheated battered food in the microwave and how much you hated it.

Yes, you can! Just make sure you have refrigerated the chicken nuggets and not left them out in the warmth. As otherwise your chicken nuggets will be at greater risk of food poisoning.
If cold is your plan of action (instead of reheating) place them in the fridge and consume within 1 day.

That is because you are warming through your leftover chicken nuggets at the same time as spraying them with extra virgin olive oil to make the nuggets crispy. Its like the air fryer makes them taste like fresh deep fried again.

Yes, they are. If you get close enough at the counter at McDonalds, you can see them deep frying the chicken nuggets. I have found that McDonalds has such an amazing batter on them and most times I burn my tongue on them as I am so desperate to tuck in.
How To Reheat McDonalds Nuggets?
If you want to reheat McDonald’s chicken nuggets in the air fryer then this is how its done:
- Load leftover nuggets into the air fryer basket.
- Cook on a medium heat.
- Spray with preferred oil.
- Air fry and serve.
If you have not used an extra virgin olive oil spray in the air fryer, then they are essential for crispy chicken nuggets.
You see, you are spraying directly on the food and then it will create a crispy texture that you just wouldn’t get from adding olive oil with a spoon on your hands.
What Dominic did was get an empty spray bottle and fill it with our favourite olive oil and we use it all the time with the air fryer.

The air fryer cook time for reheating McDonalds chicken nuggets is much faster than you would think. In fact, our chicken nuggets took JUST 4 minutes. There is no temperature change or shaking or turning your nuggets, making this a very fast reheat.

- Leftover McDonalds Chicken Nuggets
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray
Instructions
- Place your leftover McDonalds chicken nuggets into the air fryer basket and spread them out as it will help them reheat better. Spray the chicken nuggets with extra virgin olive oil.
- Air fry for 4 minutes at 160c/320f.
- Serve with sweet and sour sauce.
