Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Pot Pie

Today we’re going to be sharing with you how to cook your favourite frozen chicken pot pies in the air fryer.

Up until testing these frozen chicken pot pies for you in the air fryer, it was the first time that I had eaten frozen chicken pot pies in years.

I love chicken pot pie, but I love the excitement of making it. I love making my air fryer pie crust, I love gathering the ingredients and cooking them, ready to stuff inside of my chicken pot pie and it brings me great pleasure to see the finished air fryer chicken pot pie.

But we have had a few requests recently for frozen chicken pot pie in the air fryer and thought it would be fun to go back to my teenage years and eat some!

The last time I had frozen chicken pot pie, I was sweet 17. It was the year 1999 and I was living on my own for the first time.

I say on my own, well technically I lived in a hostel. The grocery budget I had was £5 a week so on todays money that was about $8 and the only thing that I could find that came in on budget was frozen chicken pot pies.

I could have one each day for dinner with some canned peas and it was great. It was easy for when you’re at that point in your life when you can’t cook and easy for when you’re on your own.

I thought they were delicious and would have a different flavour each week. Though my favourite was chicken and vegetable.

Air Fryer Frozen Pot Pie

I love the taste and texture of air fryer frozen pot pie. You cook a frozen pie in the oven and it always has that soggy texture and often just doesn’t live up to what you expect from it.

Then you look at your heated frozen pot pie and compare it to the box and feel like you are the worst reheater in the world.

But cook frozen pot pie in the air fryer, and you are talking something much better.

The pie crust has that lovely crunch to it, and you want to binge on the pastry. Then the filling inside is perfectly cooked too.

This doesn’t just have to apply to frozen chicken pot pie in the air fryer, as any pie that you have previously frozen can be cooked or reheated using the air fryer.

For example, we currently have leftover air fryer pumpkin pie in our freezer, as well as leftover air fryer apple pie.

Both were made from scratch and then frozen for later and we can place some pie in the air fryer, knowing it will do an amazing job of making it look brand new again and taste just as good.

So, do consider your air fryer for your frozen pot pies!

Frozen Pot Pie In The Air Fryer Oven

Your frozen pot pie is also good for cooking in your air fryer oven. We have a Power Air Fryer Oven and bought it as an upgrade of the Philips Air Fryer XL.

We currently own both and feel that they work alongside each other with them having different benefits. If you’re interested, I recommend you check out my article air fryer vs air fryer oven.

The air fryer oven is very good for cooking air fryer frozen pot pies. Not only can you cook more frozen pot pies in the air fryer oven, but it gives it a more natural cook and crisps up the pastry perfectly.

Cooking Frozen Pot Pie In The Air Fryer

Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Pot Pie step by step air fryer recipe

Cooking frozen pot pie in the air fryer is so EASY. It’s a case of removing the frozen chicken pot pie from the freezer, removing the packaging, loading them into the air fryer and waiting for that amazing aroma to fill your kitchen of pot pie.

When you cook food in the oven, you often know when it is done from the lovely just cooked smell.

You don’t get this as often with the air fryer, but trust me, it happens with frozen pot pie in the air fryer.

Notes

Any medium sized frozen pot pies work well with the timings above. This could be air fryer frozen chicken pot pie (like we have done) or vegetable, mixed meat, beef, and so on.
Its also much quicker to make frozen chicken pot pies in the air fryer. The packaging stated 35 minutes in an oven and they only took 20 minutes in the air fryer.
Egg wash isn’t essential, but it gives your pot pies that wonderful homemade glow and adds a little extra to them and only takes a minute to do.
My favourite side dish to go with my air fryer frozen pot pie would be air fryer roast potatoes they are delicious.

  1. I have a small air fryer that doesn’t have temperature control. It’s cooking temp is 386 F. Could I cover the pie with foil for the bulk of the cooking time, and could or should the egg wash be applied at the start, or can it be applied before the final stage of cooking?
Pot pies are one of my favorite foods and I can’t wait to try this!

    Thanks

    • Hi

You could try covering but the foil will probably reflect heat so it will need to be in there longer. Also with the egg wash i would wait a few minutes before the end as the heat comes from the top and will burn the egg wash if applied too soon 🙂

      Thanks for the question!

All that to say 20 minutes. Thank you but perhaps take a creative writing class to satisfy your need to write and leave the recipe short or at least I link in the beginning to bypass all the fluff.

Made it was delicious. Making one tonight again. The quality of the Marie Calendars Pot Pie has shrink. It’s gravy with eight peas, two small chicken pieces, and watery gravy. I love the pastry and with air fryer it’s even more appealing. The toasty brown . The taste is a one but definitely NOT YOUR FAULT. YOUR COOKING INSTRUCTION IS PERFECT. THE pie is less than. Marie Calendars says they sold their name and have no relationship to what is sold in supermarket. SHAME USED TO BE GOOD Had KFC POT PIE TWICE both times chicken bones. Could have choked they did said nothing.
