Reheat Meatloaf
About a year ago, I shared this picture on my Facebook Group of how I reheat meatloaf:
It showed you how to make a delicious meal using leftover mashed potatoes and a leftover slice of meatloaf.
Everybody loved it and mentioned how creative it was as a way to reheat meatloaf. Of course, many others mentioned that they NEVER had any meatloaf leftover to reheat because it was so delicious.
What I did was make a big batch of air fryer meatloaf, where I would have plenty leftover and could show you, not just the method pictured above, but another great way to reheat meatloaf without drying it out.
Can You Reheat Meatloaf?
Yes, you can, and you can either do a quick reheat of your meatloaf or repurpose it into another meal.
I am also recommending the air fryer for reheating your meatloaf because it does such a fantastic job.
You can use the air fryer to reheat the meatloaf, add a tomato ketchup glaze, add loads of cheese or turn it into a meatloaf hash.
Best Way To Reheat Meatloaf?
Like the picture I have found the best way to reheat meatloaf is by combining it with leftover mashed potatoes.
The mashed potatoes then work as a moist maker and stop your reheated meatloaf from drying out.
It is also fantastic if you only have a small amount of meatloaf left. For example, the picture from above, I only had one and a half slices of leftover meatloaf, along with loads of mashed potatoes.
This same method can work well if you have a lot of leftover meatloaf left over too.
For example, this is from 3 slices of leftover meatloaf:
You can then load it into leftover mash with some grated cheddar cheese, mix it and then you have a meatloaf version of air fryer bubble and squeak or maybe you might call it air fryer meatloaf hash.
Then add it onto a layer of aluminium foil in your air fryer and let it reheat:
You then have a great alternative side dish for dinner the day after you had meatloaf.
How To Reheat Meatloaf Slices?
I also love to reheat meatloaf slices. This is perfect for when you just want to use your leftover meatloaf to make a meatloaf sandwich. Or your dinner got cold, and you want to reheat the meatloaf that is on your dinner plate.
How I reheat meatloaf slices is by placing them in the air fryer basket, adding cheese or tomato ketchup and giving them a quick reheat.
Its so easy and fast and can be done at the same time as sides too if you need to.
How To Freeze Meatloaf Slices?
If you want to freeze meatloaf slices that is also easy to do.
What I recommend you do is load them into small separate little freezer bags.
Or plan B if you have a lot left, is to load them onto a sheet pan and then place them in the freezer.
Wait an hour when they are solid.
Then remove and load into a freezer bag together.
You do it like this because otherwise your meatloaf slices will be stuck together, and it will be much harder to reheat from frozen.
How To Reheat Meatloaf?
If you want to reheat meatloaf in the air fryer then this is how it’s done:
- Load leftover meatloaf slices into the air fryer basket.
- Add cheese or ketchup or both!
- Cook on a medium heat in the air fryer.
- Serve.
What Temperature To Reheat Meatloaf?
The recommended temperature to reheat meatloaf is 160c/320f. You never want to go higher than this because you will end up cooking your meatloaf rather than reheating it.
How Long To Reheat Meatloaf?
The recommended air fryer cook time for reheating meatloaf is JUST 8 minutes. We reheated two meatloaf slices in the air fryer and cooked them for 4 minutes on each side.
How To Reheat Meatloaf Without Drying It Out?
Note the temperature and the cooking time above for reheating meatloaf in air fryer.
Meatloaf will dry out if you reheat it as a high temperature and for too long.
Also note, that we added either cheese or tomato ketchup to the top of the meatloaf.
This works as a moisture to the meatloaf and stops it from drying out.
You can follow the same idea with gravy or barbecue sauce over your meatloaf instead.
