What’s A Bird In A Bird In A Bird?
A bird in a bird in a bird, has so many different names. It is a turducken, or a third bird roast or simply a 3 meat roast.
Its very popular in the UK around Christmas time and it is when you buy from the butchers a duck, chicken and turkey roasting joint that has been stuffed inside one another.
Three bird roast comes about because its three different birds (chicken, turkey and duck) that have been rolled up together to create an all in one meat. Ideal if you cant decide between chicken, duck or turkey and want a bit of everything.
The name turducken comes from combining the words turkey, duck and chicken into one.
What Does A Three Bird Roast Consist Of?
A three bird roast consists of roll of meat made of turkey, duck and chicken, it is then wrapped in bacon.

Turducken Slow Cooker Recipe Ingredients
Turducken – We used a smaller 850g turducken because we were feeding just four of us plus, we had all the sides going into the slow cooker as well. You can do the same or use a bigger turducken.
Veggies – We also had 6 potatoes, 4 carrots, and 3 parsnips so that we could get a good mixture going into the slow cooker.
Cheating – We also cheated with some butchers already prepared stuffing balls and pigs in blankets. You can also make your own and follow our air fryer pigs in blankets and air fryer stuffing balls recipes.
Oil – We also recommend a little extra virgin olive oil for mixing with the potatoes, carrots, and parsnips.
Seasonings – Then for seasoning our slow cooker meal we used salt, pepper, dried thyme, and dried mixed herbs.
