If you read Recipe This regularly, you will know that we swapped the sunny southern region of The Algarve in Portugal for a return to the North of England.
And to many people’s amusement a lot of this was about the food. The food we couldn’t get when we lived in Portugal and the food, we paid a lot more for, because it was been transported into Portugal.
Food items that many Brits take for granted that is always there.
I remember when we first arrived back in England the first thing we did was buy some corned beef to make corned beef hash with. And our first shop in England was more than £200 as I was like the red head in Confessions Of A Shopaholic that had been deprived of so many favourites for so many years.
Though once we had somewhere to live my excitement turned to Aldi and having an Aldi so close by.
I even wrote about my favourite air fryer foods to buy at Aldi. But one food that stood out at Aldi above all others were the halloumi. I just loved it more than any of the other supermarkets and would buy the halloumi blocks whenever I was at Aldi.
Today’s recipe is all about the Aldi halloumi and using it instead of chicken in some fajitas in the air fryer and OMG it tastes so good. I am so glad the hubby hates halloumi, as more for me!

Can You Cook Fajitas In The Air Fryer?
Yes, you can cook fajitas in the air fryer, and they are delicious. The first ever fajitas I made were air fryer chicken fajitas and I served them inside my favourite WW wraps.
You could also skip the meat and just air fry your veggies for a delicious alternative to a stir fry.
Can You Put Halloumi In Fajitas?
Yes, you can put halloumi in fajitas, and it is delicious! Whilst many would choose halloumi because it is a great vegetarian option, I choose halloumi because it tastes good, and I never feel like I am missing out by not having meat in it.
Also, halloumi is very easy to slice up for fajitas and I find it easier to make halloumi fajitas than I do to make chicken ones.
Can Halloumi Be Cooked In An Air Fryer?
Yes, you sure can and I have become a HUGE fan of halloumi in the air fryer and also in other kitchen gadgets.
Can You Cook Fajitas In The Air Fryer?
Halloumi fajitas is becoming the one I cook the most though, as its perfect for when you have spare halloumi and peppers that need using up.
Why Is Halloumi So Good?
Halloumi, for me, is so good because it can easily be sliced and used in meals as a meat substitute. Think of all those recipes that you would make with sliced chicken breast, or sliced steak and then imagine swapping the meat for halloumi.
And also remember halloumi has a high melting point, meaning that when you cook with it, the cheese wont melt but go crispy like chicken does.

Halloumi Fajitas Ingredients
Halloumi – I used one block of Aldi halloumi for these fajitas. And then sliced it lengthways so it was similar to how chicken is prepped in fajitas.
Peppers – My favourite part of the fajitas is how colourful they look from the peppers. I recommend using 2-3 different coloured peppers in your fajitas. You can also use the bits off peppers that need using up as a clear out of the fridge.
Onion – I also recommend adding a red onion and red onions cook very well in the air fryer.
Oil – You will also need a small portion of extra virgin olive oil as this will stop the halloumi and peppers sticking to the air fryer basket and help make the halloumi and peppers crispy.
Seasoning – Then for seasonings the easiest option is salt, pepper and some fajitas seasoning.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this fajitas halloumi recipe it has just been our Cosori air fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.

How To Cook Crispy Halloumi Fajitas?
- Prep. Slice your halloumi into strips and slice your peppers into strips too. Then do the same again with your red onion.

The fajitas cook time can vary depending on what ingredients you are adding to them. The good news is that vegetarian fajitas are fast cooking because you are not waiting on any meat.
These easy halloumi fajitas take JUST 8 minutes to cook in the air fryer. This allows time for the halloumi to get crispy as well as cooking the peppers and onion.

What To Serve With Fajitas?
I love to make a halloumi fajitas bowl and serve it on its own, in a big bowl. Because halloumi is high in protein I find that this fills me up perfectly and it will take me two meal times to finish them.
But if I was feeding more people then I would add some extras to it and serve the following with my fajitas:
- Instant Pot Black Beans & Rice
- Instant Pot Mexican Quinoa
- Bread Machine Flatbreads
- Air Fryer Five Guys Fries
- Air Fryer Cajun Shrimp
