Frozen Halloumi Fries
I often talk about the food that we didn’t get the chance to eat when we were living in Portugal. There was so much food that I was deprived of I have ended up building up a freezer and several kitchen cupboards, with food I want to try and never got the chance with before.
I am now getting the chance to try things for the first time and to local people’s amusement I am like Elf as he arrives in New York City with all these firsts.
One that was on top of my firsts list was to try halloumi.
I had heard to many amazing things about the popular Mediterranean cheese and was excited to tuck into burgers, cheese fries, salads, pasta dishes and so much more.
Arriving at our hotel for the night before our drive up to Yorkshire I saw halloumi fries on the Premier Inn menu. I am sure they don’t slave away at them in the kitchen and are frozen.
I tried one and then another and another and was soon (like everyone else had been for years) hooked on frozen halloumi fries.
The plan then was, that when we were settled in a house of our own with a shiny new air fryer, that I would cook frozen halloumi fries in the air fryer and today I am so pleased to finally share it with you.
Plus, as well as our free newsletter, we also have a free air fryer mini course. It is ideal for air fryer beginners or those that want to get more confident with their air fryer. The free course runs for 5 days with a new lesson delivered each day to your inbox.
Can You Cook Halloumi Fries From Frozen?
Yes, you can. Frozen halloumi fries are amazing. You will find that many pubs and cafes, that serve halloumi fries will often be using frozen ones that they have cooked in a deep fat fryer.
Also, frozen halloumi fries have already had the hard work done to them, so all you are doing is cooking/reheating.
Can You Cook Halloumi Fries In An Air Fryer?
Yes, you sure can! Air fryer frozen halloumi fries are delicious, and I know this, because I have tried many types since arriving in England. I have tried Aldi, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, and Iceland.
They are also very similar in crisp as when you do air fryer frozen mozzarella sticks.
Though, of course, the main benefit of air frying halloumi fries is that you can cut down on the oil compared to deep fat frying.
Can You Put Halloumi In An Actifry?
Yes, you can. But note, that an Actifry takes longer to cook and many don’t have a high temperature setting to make them as crispy.
Is Halloumi Good In An Air Fryer?
Yes, halloumi is AMAZING in the air fryer. I have tried halloumi many different ways in the air fryer so far and I am loving the results.
I have also tried Halloumi in the Philips Air Fryer XL and Cosori Air Fryer, and both produce similar results.
You also don’t have to be using the halloumi for halloumi fries, you can also use it to air fry instead of grilling halloumi for salads, stir fry’s and so many other dishes.
Frozen Halloumi Fries Air Fryer Ingredients
Halloumi – It’s all about your frozen halloumi fries. Though you can use the same recipe for other cheese fries in the air fryer as they will carry a similar cook time and temperature.
Oil – We also recommend some extra virgin olive oil spray. You can create a bottle of this with one of your old bottles. Then give a spray on the top of the cheese fries during the air frying process. This will then create an amazing crispy coating.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this air fryer halloumi fries recipe, it has just been our Cosori Air Fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.
How To Cook Frozen Halloumi Fries?
- Load. Add your frozen halloumi fries into the air fryer basket making sure you get rid of any excess breading that has fallen.
- Cook. Air fry your cheese fries for 6 minutes and then turn them over for an even cook.
- Spray. Add a spraying of extra virgin olive oil and this will make your halloumi fries as crispy as the deep fat fryer but without the high fat content.
- Cook. Air fry for a final 2 minutes depending on how powerful your air fryer is and how crispy you would like them and then serve.
Where To Buy Frozen Halloumi Fries?
There are so many places that you can buy frozen halloumi fries. We love halloumi fries in the air fryer that have been purchased from:
- Iceland
- Morrisons
- Tesco
- Asda
- Aldi
- Lidl
Though I am sure there are many other places you can buy them from too. Or if you purchased Burger King Halloumi Fries note that you can reheat them in the air fryer for 3 minutes at 160c/320f.
Note, we used the Lidl brand in the air fryer in this recipe, but like I said, any will work well.
How Long Do Halloumi Fries Take To Cook From Frozen?
The frozen halloumi fries cook time is JUST 8 minutes. Just imagine that, halloumi fries are dumped into the air fryer basket and then 8 minutes later, the smell of delicious cheese fries takes over your kitchen.
You can even warm up your dipping sauce in the air fryer at the same time if you have one or get a couple of serving trays out while you wait.
