Air Fryer Tacos
Are you looking for something new and exciting to do for your next Taco Tuesday night in?
I grabbed my six year old daughter Sofia, who is as obsessed with shrimp, avocado sauce, slices avocados and tacos as I am. We headed into the kitchen, and we made a batch of shrimp tacos.
Just like me, she loves how the air fryer makes taco night so much easier, how you can quickly air fry your shrimp for tacos, then get everything else ready as the shrimp cooks in the air fryer.
This is our third air fryer tacos recipe, following on from air fryer chicken for tacos and our air fryer fish tacos.
You will love how flavoursome and yummy shrimp is when it is air fried and not to mention this yummy sauce. That Sofia and I binged on as we made the tacos.

Air Fryer Frozen Shrimp Tacos
Another benefit of this recipe is that you can make your shrimp tacos using frozen shrimp. I recommend using peeled and cooked shrimp and then you can use the air fryer to warm them up.
I buy a big bag of frozen cooked shrimp and then I can grab some from the bag whenever I need it.
Shrimp Taco Ingredients
The wonderful thing about the ingredients we use in our air fried shrimp tacos is that we are reusing what we need for the shrimp, to go in the sauce and to be part of the shrimp taco toppings.
Here are the main shrimp taco ingredients that you will need:
Shrimp – I recommend that you use frozen already cooked and peeled shrimp as they are prep free and then you can add in your favourite flavours once they have cooked.
Avocado – Tasty shrimp tacos are not the same without avocado. We use the avocado twice. To make the yummy taco marinade as well as for slicing to serve as a topping on your tacos.
Tacos. I recommend the smaller tortilla wraps as they are ideal for tacos or burritos. Plus, with them being small and the tacos making you full so quick, it stops you overeating.
Onion. I love to use a mixture of both red onion and spring onion in my tacos. That way you have extra flavour, and you can cook one and then serve with the other. Or if you prefer you can just use one type.
Seasoning – I love Mexican shrimp tacos and I want lots of flavour in my shrimp taco recipe and this means plenty of shrimp taco seasoning. I recommend paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic, cumin, Mexican seasoning and of course, salt, and pepper.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this taco air fryer recipe, it has just been our Philips Air Fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer dinners and suppers.
How To Cook Shrimp For Tacos?
The easy shrimp taco method is to load frozen and peeled shrimp into the air fryer basket with slices of lime.
Then once you have air fried shrimp, toss it in seasonings and put to one side.
You then have your shrimp for tacos.
You can also follow a similar method for chicken for tacos, steak for tacos and of course another seafood.
The Shrimp Taco Sauce
Whilst the air fryer is working its magic, it is time for the blender to work its magic too.
Load into the blender your shrimp taco sauce ingredients and pulse until you have a thick creamy taco sauce.
Then you can spread the sauce over your soft tacos before loading it up with shrimp and toppings.
You can also reserve any leftovers in the fridge for the next time you have tacos in the air fryer.
Shrimp Taco Toppings
Now that you have made your taco sauce, and the air fryer is warming up your shrimp, you can prep your taco toppings.
I love to have the following shrimp taco toppings:
- Red Cabbage
- Spring Onions
- Avocado
- Avocado Sauce
I could have others, but I want to enjoy lots of shrimp as that is the real star of these air fryer tacos.

How To Make Shrimp Tacos?
You have now made your shrimp for tacos, your avocado sauce for serving with your tacos and now its time for everything to come together.
- Sauce. Start by spreading your avocado sauce onto your wraps, making sure you get a thick coating.
- Toss. Load your cooked shrimp into a bowl and toss in seasonings and assemble into your wrap.
- Load. Add in your toppings, including red cabbage, onion, sliced avocado and more sauce.

What To Serve With Air Fryer Tacos?
My favourite thing ever to serve with my air fried tacos, is to serve it with air fryer potato wedges. They are one of my all time favourite side dishes and you can make them ahead and just warm them up in the air fryer.
Another option is to make our air fryer chickpeas and then toss them in Mexican seasoning. They can also be an extra topping on your tacos too.

Ingredients

Air Fryer Shrimp Tacos Ingredients:
- 250 g Frozen Shrimp, peeled and precooked
- 1 Small Red Onion
- 2 Large Avocados
- ¼ Medium Red Cabbage
- 1 Spring Onion
- 1 Garlic Clove
- 3 Tbsp Sour Cream
- 1 Lime, into wedges
- 1 Lime, juice only
- 1 Tbsp Salsa
- Salt & Pepper
Taco Sauce Seasonings
- 1 Tsp Cumin
- 2 Tbsp Mexican
- 1 Tbsp Paprika
- ½ Tsp Cayenne Pepper
Instructions
- Prep. Peel and dice your red onion and garlic. Wash and shred your red cabbage. Clean and slice your spring onion. Peel and slice your avocados.
- Shrimp. Load your frozen shrimp into the air fryer basket with lime wedges and air fry for 7 minutes at 180c/360f.
- Blend. Add to a blender garlic, half the red onion, and half the avocado. Along with juice from 1 lime, sour cream, quarter of the shredded cabbage, 90% of the seasonings mentioned above (reserving some for the shrimp), salt, pepper, and pulse until you have a creamy avocado sauce.
- Shrimp. When the air fryer beeps remove the shrimp, load into a bowl, and toss in salsa, remaining seasonings and mix with a fork.
- Assemble. Spread taco sauce over your tacos, add shrimp, add more sauce, and then cover with your leftovers to make yummy toppings and then serve.
I love my shrimp tacos more spicy than this so i added some chili but the overall flavor was amazing, thanks.
