Steak Bites In Air Fryer

Let me introduce you to my favourite lazy dinner in the air fryer that is perfect for weeknights when you can’t be bothered to cook and just want to dump things into kitchen gadgets.

Air Fryer Steak Bites. You can use a couple of slices of sirloin steak and transform them into a great alternative to steak and chips.

The steak is chopped into bite sized chunks. It is then loaded into the air fryer with just cubed and seasoned potatoes and you have dinner!

You can also mix and match your air fryer steak bites. Omit potatoes if you follow keto and swap them for mushrooms instead.

But what I love most about air fryer steak bites is that you can do just one steak and cut it into cubes or when you have a spare steak in the freezer you forgot about you can use that.

Steak Bites & Potatoes In Air Fryer

If you are looking for combining your favourite steak bites with potatoes then this is the perfect recipe.

Your potatoes need less extra virgin olive oil because the fat from the steak bites keeps the potatoes moist.

Then you toss the potatoes in seasoning prior to adding the steak bites on top.

You can use any type of potatoes. They can be sweet potatoes, baby potatoes or even large potatoes chopped up into cubes. Or the best potatoes for the air fryer is red potatoes which we talk about in our air fryer cookbook.

We used 1 large white potato with 2 sirloin steaks and chopped them into cubes that were smaller than roast potatoes.

Air Fried Steak Bites

There is often a debate about what types of bite size steak you can use when making air fryer steak bites.

I like air fryer sirloin steak bites the most. But flank steak works well too. Rib is my husband’s favourite and we will make prime rib hash from Christmas leftovers.

Rump is also fantastic for air fryer steak bites. If you can afford it fillet steak is amazing, but it can be expensive.

If in doubt, ask your butcher what steak that they recommend for steak and then cube it when you get home.

Or even better, while at the butchers ask them to chop it for you!

Garlic Butter Steak Bites Air Fryer

Garlic steak bites and potatoes is a delicious Plan B. You can follow our steak and potatoes air fryer recipe and then instead of extra virgin olive oil swap the oil for garlic butter.

Follow our garlic butter method from our air fryer garlic bread recipe and make the garlic butter in the air fryer. Then when we recommend oil on the potatoes use the garlic butter instead and it is so yummy.

What Are Steak Bites?

Air fryer steak bites is like a lot of air fryer food that tends to have a zillion different names depending on where you live in the world.

Cubed steak to many Brits for example would be like doing air fryer braising steak in the air fryer or stew meat. This of course would never be tender and if this is what you are thinking of you need to swap for sirloin, rump, ribeye, or fillet.

As well as air fryer steak cubes you might be thinking of steak tips and potatoes which is very similar to what we are making with sirloin.

Whatever you call them note they are delicious chunks of steak cooked in the air fryer to perfection, and then served with cubed potatoes, nothing is better than that right?

Can I Cook Steak & Vegetables In The Air Fryer?

Yes you can. I am very much team potatoes so will often air fry steak bites with potatoes, but you can achieve the same with veggies.

Dom’s favourite and a keto favourite too is air fryer steak bites and mushrooms but think you can do the same with asparagus, green beans etc.

Can You Air Fry Meat & Fries At The Same Time?

Yes, you can put cook meat and potatoes in the air fryer at the same time. Check out our air fryer steak and chips recipe, air fryer meatballs bake or even our air fryer sausage and chips.

Are Steaks Better In The Oven Or Air Fryer?

Steaks are much better in the air fryer than in the oven. I will never cook a steak in the oven ever again!

The air fryer makes them nice and crispy with a lovely brown on them like you get from the grill or a frying pan and they are so tender that I rarely use a tenderiser when cooking air fryer steak now.

Why Is My Steak Chewy In Air Fryer?

This happens when you cook your air fryer steak and too high a temperature and you end up overcooking the steak.

You can also get steak chewy in the air fryer if you use a cheap cut of steak that is not meant for air frying such as braising steak or chuck steak.
