McCain Roast Potatoes
My hubby always says the same thing, whenever we cook any frozen McCains in the air fryer.
He always says:
You can tell that this is McCains.
And it is true you can.
Whilst our air fryer frozen roast potatoes are delicious, they are not in the same league as these McCain roast potatoes.
And the only reason why, is because you get what you pay for and can easily tell the difference between standard Iceland roast potatoes and McCain crispy and fluffy roast potatoes.
I have tried a lot of frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer in the quest for the BEST and I have to say if you want the best frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer, then you must try these McCain roasts as you will not be disappointed and will struggle to believe they are a frozen food.

Can You Buy Frozen Roasted Potatoes?
Yes, you can. There are many different brands selling frozen roasted potatoes, its just a case of finding one you like and taking it home to air fry.
The triple cooked roast potatoes from McCain are the ones to look out for. They are crispy and fluffy and perfect for if you are the person that can never get the roast potatoes that crispy.
Or air frying the roast potatoes from frozen can be a great way to reduce the calories.
Best Way To Cook Roasted Potatoes?
The best way to cook roasted potatoes is with the air fryer. I have not cooked roast potatoes any other way for more than 10 years now.
You can make air fryer duck fat potatoes, air fryer roast potatoes with rosemary and of course air fryer frozen roast potatoes.
Or if frozen roasties is more your thing, then you will love McCain crispy and fluffy roast potatoes as nothing beats them for crispy texture.
How To Get Crunchy Roast Potatoes?
The secret behind crunchy roast potatoes is two things:
- The fat used to make them extra crispy and crunchy
- Cooking the roast potatoes at different temperatures
I always remember that you had to add a LOT of fat to achieve this in the oven and that is why I am such a fan of air fryer roast potatoes.
Then you would always cook them in the air fryer at a lower temperature first and then increase it to crisp them up.
What McCain frozen roast potatoes does to achieve this is that you are buying them already triple cooked, and they have already added the perfect fat for them.
Then you can just cook the McCain roasts in the air fryer, and they never fail.
Is It Possible To Reheat Roast Potatoes?
Yes, it is. You can also use the air fryer to reheat your roast potatoes the next day. I love leftover roast potatoes in the air fryer and will often cook them with a little grated cheese and whichever other leftovers I have, that need reheating.
Frozen Roasties Ingredients
Potatoes – I recommend McCain triple cooked roasts. They are amazing and the fluffy and crispy texture is amazing. Though of course you can cook any frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer.
Spray – I also recommend you use some extra virgin olive oil spray for the last few minutes of the cook time. This can make a huge difference to your roasties and make them super crispy.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this frozen roast potatoes recipe it has just been our Philips air fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.
Plus, we recommend you head over to our air fryer recipes category as we have more than 500 tried and tested air fryer recipes and have been air frying for 10 years.
How To Roast Frozen Potatoes?
- Load. Remove your frozen McCain roasts from the packaging and place in the air fryer basket.
- Cook. Air fry for 15 minutes at 180c/360f followed by an air fryer shake, followed by an additional 8 minutes. Shake again, add extra virgin olive oil spray, and cook for a final 8 minutes at 200c/400f.
- Serve. Then load into a serving platter and serve with your favourite Sunday roast.
And I am sure you can see now how easy it is to cook frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer and why it is a firm favourite for Sunday dinners.
How Long Do McCain Roasts Take To Cook?
The roast potatoes cooking time is JUST 31 minutes. Note that this is cooking McCain roast potatoes from frozen, a full bag of them and still significantly quicker than roasting in the oven.
The roast potatoes are cooked after 23 minutes but you want the perfect roast potatoes, and we are increasing the temperature to then crisp them up.
What Temperature Do You Cook Roast Potatoes?
I recommend a temperature to cook roast potatoes of 180c/360f. This ensures that you get that amazing fluffy centre on your McCain roasts.
Also, because you are cooking roast potatoes from frozen it stops you cooking the outside too fast and the inside not getting cooked.
Though for the crispy crunch on your roasties we increase the temperature up to 200c/400f for the last few minutes of cooking to make them just like they would be in the oven.
