Chicken Gnocchi Soup Instant Pot
Okay, I am going to confess to something that you are going to think is totally crackers.
The photos for this instant pot chicken gnocchi soup are from more than 2 years ago. Yet here I am publishing this creamy chicken soup for the first time today.
Why you ask? Because I have more kitchen gadget recipe ideas, than time to type them all up and share them with you. Right now I think of it as my stock and have a folder bursting with almost 100 recipes that have been tried and tested and photographed and just need feeding into Recipe This.
I just checked the date stamp on this chicken gnocchi soup instant pot recipe, and it is older than the date we last published our instant pot pumpkin soup. A big reminder that I haven’t shared with you a hearty instant pot soup for a while!
But here I am back with a delicious creamy soup and I always say to the kids when I am late making dinner, that my food is worth waiting for and you will love this gnocchi soup!
Is Chicken Gnocchi Soup Healthy?
Yes, chicken gnocchi soup is healthy – well the way we make it in the Instant Pot. If you added in a can of cream of chicken soup, then of course, it would no longer be healthy. You can also load up your gnocchi soup with loads more veggies too.
Is Chicken Gnocchi Soup Gluten Free?
Yes, this chicken gnocchi soup is gluten free, though if you are using gnocchi that has gluten in it, you would need to switch it for another brand. But all the other ingredients we personally add to it don’t have any gluten.
Then if you need to keep the chicken soup dairy free (we use cream cheese in this recipe) you can either opt for lactose free Philadelphia or swap it for a can of coconut milk.
Can I Use My Instant Pot As A Soup Pot?
Yes, you sure can use your instant pot as a soup pot and so many people do. You can also be cooking a meal in the instant pot, have loads leftover, then leave the leftovers in the instant pot for the next day and store it in your fridge.
Then a day later at dinnertime use the instant pot to transform your leftovers into a yummy soup.
Is It Better To Slow Cook Or Pressure Cook Soup?
This is a big debate as many people love a pressure cook soup and many others love a slow cooker soup. I prefer a slow cooker soup for flavour and instant pot soup for how fast it cooks.
What Is The Soup Setting On The Instant Pot?
The soup setting on the instant pot is a preset so that you can just press soup and it has a time in mind. However, people that have been using the instant pot for a while (like us) prefer to just manually set the time ourselves.
Can You Overcook Soup In Instant Pot?
Yes, you sure can overcook your instapot chicken gnocchi soup. Remember gnocchi is very fast cooking and soup in the instant pot is really fast. Remember how fast cooking it is before you make instant pot soup.
Chicken Gnocchi Soup Instant Pot Ingredients
Gnocchi – What we did was make our air fryer gnocchi and buy these packs of gnocchi from Aldi and then save some for instant pot soup. Though of course, you
Chicken – Because this is a chicken gnocchi soup recipe, we are also adding in some chicken breasts. You can swap them for boneless thighs, but we find when you do they make the soup quite greasy.
Veggies – I love to add veg to my soup and I have added carrot, celery and onion. I have also included some frozen chopped garlic.
Stock – I love making my own instant pot chicken stock and then freeze it in cubes and then you can just add it to the instant pot when making soups and stews.
Liquid – Then as well as the stock, we recommend some extra virgin olive oil for sauteing the veggies along with white wine to deglaze the instant pot.
Cream – Then to make your instant pot chicken gnocchi wonderfully creamy, we love adding some Philadelphia cream cheese. Of course, you can swap for real cream, or coconut cream if you prefer.
Seasoning – When seasoning your chicken soup its easy to mix and match with what you have in. We don’t use tarragon as the hubby is allergic to it and instead used salt, pepper, thyme, parsley, basil and sweet paprika.
Can You Recommend An Instant Pot?
I often get asked which electric pressure cookers we recommend and which one we use. In 95% of our instant pot recipes, we use either this instant pot duo (we have both the 6qt and 8qt) or the Ninja Foodi air fryer and pressure cooker in 1. You can click on the links above and read up on them.
Plus, we recommend you head over to our instant pot recipes category as we have many electric pressure cooker recipes and have been using instant pots for 5 years.

Sam & Doms Top Tips For Success
We recommend being gentle when handling the gnocchi and just giving it a quick stir at the end. As you don’t want that lovely gnocchi breaking up in the instant pot and turning into a bowl of mush.
