Air Fryer Frozen Hash Browns

Growing up in Britain one of the main foods on a fried English Breakfast was always hash browns. It was up there alongside the sausages, bacon, fried eggs, beans, buttery mushrooms and fried tomatoes.

You would often use the baked beans to mop it up with and it would be unusual if you didn’t have one.

In the summer of 2018, we went travelling around Europe. We went to England among the many places we travelled to and had a few nights at the Premier Inn.

If you have not stayed at them, then you have missed out as they are fantastic!

It’s a cheap as chips and you have an incredibly comfy bed, a big bath asking for you to have a bubble bath, polite staff and you can pay a little extra for the breakfast buffet.

At the Premier Inn Breakfast Buffet, you get a fantastic selection of your breakfast favourites.

When we took the little ones, they were excited over the orange juice that came out of the machine, the endless supply of crumpets and of course the hot breakfast food.

Hash browns was on top of their list, as well as the beans and they couldn’t get enough.

For me though, I am not a big Fried English Breakfast fan. I prefer some sausages, some black pudding and some bubble and squeak.

If you too want to recreate your meal at Premier Inn breakfast or any other, then do follow our air fryer English breakfast recipe and follow the recipe below for perfect hash browns in the air fryer.

Can You Cook Hash Browns In Air Fryer?

Absolutely. Frozen hash browns are simply delicious when you cook them in the air fryer.

They don’t have that soggy taste that a lot of other hash browns have, which typically happens when you cook hash browns in a frying pan or in the oven.

How To Cook Hash Browns From Frozen?

The best way to cook hash browns from frozen is using the air fryer. You can fit a good portion of frozen hash browns into your air fryer basket and they come out so crispy and delicious.

Or if you live in the USA, you can do the same with hash brown bites, or even shredded hash browns.

How To Air Fry Hash Browns In Ninja Foodi?

When we originally shared this frozen hash browns air fryer recipe, we didn’t have a Ninja Foodi. Our Ninja Foodi has become a life saver and we have found that the air fryer function on it, is not much different to our regular air fryer.

Therefore, if you want to do Ninja Foodi hash browns you can follow this recipe and then just press air fryer as you set the time and temp.

Frozen Hash Browns In Air Fryer UK

Here in the UK our hash browns tend to include incredibly small chunks of potatoes that are mashed up and then breaded before being fried. I think of them as being like lumpy mashed potatoes or very thin potato hash.

Yet others know them as triangle hash browns.

Though in the US, they tend to make hash browns from shredded potatoes, and they look more like a potato fritter.

Both versions of hash browns can easily be cooked from frozen in the air fryer.

Hash Browns – To cook frozen hash browns we used a pack of McCain hash browns. They are much better for taste and texture, and you get what you pay for. I have used cheap Iceland brands too, but they are never in the same league.

Spray – For hash browns in air fryer that are nice and crispy we recommend spraying the hash browns with a little extra virgin olive oil spray and this will help make them nice and crispy.

Can You Recommend An Air Fryer?

I often get asked which air fryers I recommend and which one I use. In 95% of our air fryer recipes, we use either the Philips Air Fryer XL or the Cosori XL because they are the best ones, we have found out of many air fryers we have tried over the years.
