Easter Cupcakes
I originally had a 1:1 baking class with a lovely lady who taught me everything cupcakes.
I learnt how to pipe the buttercream, the secret ingredients to the best buttercream and how to mix and match different colours and had a wonderful time learning.
If you check out our air fryer cupcakes recipe you can see the results and how you can go from one style of cupcake to another just by changing the buttercream colour and adding a few decorations. Or even better check out our air fryer Halloween cupcakes for something totally different!

Can You Make Cupcakes In An Air Fryer?
Yes, you can make cupcakes in an air fryer, and they are so delicious. You just need to be careful that you don’t overfill the cupcake cases, otherwise they will not cook evenly.
Can Cupcake Liners Go In The Air Fryer?
Yes, cupcake liners can go in the air fryer, but they need weighing down. This is because the thin paper liners you use for regular cupcakes are too flimsy and will fall over from the air circulation of the air fryer.
But there is a plan B. That is using silicone cupcake liners instead. These are much thicker, you can serve your cupcakes directly on them and they never blow around in the air fryer.
Can You Put Silicone Cupcake Liners In The Air Fryer?
Yes, you can and this is how we prefer to make cupcakes in the air fryer. The silicone cups wash clean very well, they are easy for prepping the cupcakes in and they don’t fly about in the air fryer like the paper liners do.
You can also place a paper liner into a silicone liner. That way if serving at a party you don’t have to take the silicone liners with you.
Ninja Air Fryer Cupcakes
We have also made air fryer cupcakes many times using the Ninja Foodi. Simply using the air fryer basket. Use the air fryer setting, and you can make it the same way. Or if you have a Ninja Dual you can cook one batch in one drawer and another batch in the second drawer.
Easter Cupcake Ingredients
Muffins – We are starting with the bottom muffin layer of your Easter cupcakes. We recommend you follow our air fryer cupcakes recipe as we give you lots of tips and tricks too if you have not made them before in the air fryer. But the main ingredients include unsalted butter, caster sugar, self raising flour, vanilla paste and eggs.
Topping – I love buttercream with my cupcakes the most and will make my Thermomix buttercream and then add whichever food colouring that I like. For this recipe with it being cupcake ideas for Easter I will usually add some green food colouring to it. Though you could swap this for any time of the year to match another theme.
Decoration – Then for decoration its totally personal choice. But what we do when we are making cupcakes for Easter is a bit of this and that. If the kids have loads of leftover Easter chocolate, we will use a few things and then we can make the most of the leftovers. In our easy easter cupcakes we have used a mixture of crème eggs, caramel eggs and mini eggs.
Can You Recommend An Air Fryer?
I often get asked which air fryers I recommend and which one I use. In 95% of our air fryer recipes, we use either the Philips Air Fryer XL or the Cosori XL because they are the best ones, we have found out of many air fryers we have tried over the years. You can click on the links above and read up on them. But if you would rather have a dual air fryer we recommend this Ninja Dual (make sure you order the right one as not all are good) or the Philips Dual.
How To Make Cupcakes In Air Fryer?
- Load. Place the batter from your muffin mix into silicone cup liners. If you prefer to serve in paper liners, add a paper liner to your silicone and then spoon in the mixture.
- Cook. Then place the cupcakes into the air fryer basket, carefully, so that the mixture stays in place. Then air fry for 12 minutes at 160c/320f or until fully cooked and golden on top. Then put to one side to cool.
- Buttercream. I then like to make the buttercream whilst the cupcakes are cooling. You can go with a single colour or mix and match depending what spring/easter colours you would like to add.
- Decorate. Then using your favourite nozzle and a piping bag, decorate your cupcakes.
And that is how easy cupcakes in air fryer are to make at home and how you can make them into an Easter theme.
Crème Egg Easter Cupcakes
If you are using crème eggs to go on top of your cupcakes (like we have done) then we recommend that you freeze them partly first. Just give them an hour in the freezer and they will be easier to then slice in half. We also recommend when your cupcakes are done, that you give them half an hour in the freezer, as this will help that keeping their position, especially when you are adding crème eggs on top.
How Long To Cook Cupcakes In Air Fryer?
The cupcakes in air fryer time is JUST 12 minutes. The air fryer is often faster than an oven to cook in.
Though depending on how many you are making you might need to make them in batches.
If you are cooking cupcakes in air fryer in batches remember it doesn’t need a preheat so cool down your air fryer first.

Instructions
- Follow our air fryer cupcakes recipe and cook the cupcakes for 12 minutes at 160c/320f.
- When the air fryer beeps, remove them from the air fryer, allow the air fryer to cool and then do your final cupcakes. Depending on the air fryer you have, will depend on the batches needed, we did two batches as we can fit only 8 in our air fryer basket at once.
- Whilst the cupcakes are cooling prepare your buttercream. For our Easter theme we have added green food colouring. I recommend adding in a tiny bit at a time to make sure you don’t add too much.
- Also freeze your crème and caramel eggs for about 30-60 minutes to allow them to harden up. Then slice them in half.
- Load the buttercream into a piping bag and pipe the tops of the cupcakes with your green icing.
- Then decorate the cupcakes. We added either a egg half or a mix of mini eggs to the top of each.
