Turkey Breast In Air Fryer

This month on Recipe This we are doing a 14 day series of turkey recipes that you can cook at home with your kitchen gadgets. These are easy recipes that are ideal for those that want an easy way of cooking.

Yesterday we kickstarted it with air fryer turkey burgers and today for day two we are showing you how to cook a turkey breast in the air fryer.

But not just a turkey breast in the air fryer, but a boneless turkey breast. It’s a fantastic alternative, but very similar to cooking air fryer chicken breast and best of all, ideal for a Sunday roast.

The turkey breast is seasoned and then air fried, you can use other gadgets such as your instant pot, to create the sides. A win win in our house!

Can You Cook A Turkey Breast In An Air Fryer?

Yes, you can! Turkey breasts cook wonderfully in the air fryer. I love how moist the turkey is and you don’t have to worry about it being dry.

This is because of the way the air circulates around the turkey, something you can not achieve with an oven.

Is There An Air Fryer Big Enough For A Turkey?

This is the problem many people have. They want to cook everything and anything in their kitchen gadgets. And unfortunately, some things are just not big enough.

I often read on social media, that people use them for everything apart from the Thanksgiving turkey just because it wont fit.

However, the XL air fryers are big enough for a turkey crown or a turkey breast. Plus, as my dad always says why not just get a breast and just eat the good part of the turkey?

If you do want a good sized air fryer for your turkey then I recommend this one.

Turkey Breast In Air Fryer Or Instant Pot?

Many of our readers are proud owners of both the air fryer and the instant pot. Or they have another brand of electric pressure cooker.

They often ask, turkey breast in the air fryer or the instant pot and I say it depends!

If you want turkey that is the most tender turkey in the world and don’t care about turkey skin, then go with the instant pot. However, if you want a crispy turkey and want to create a roasted meat, then you’re best with an air fryer turkey breast roast.

3lb Boneless Turkey Breast In Air Fryer

I have taken the weight of my air fryer boneless turkey breast roast and it weighs 1.4kg. Converted into pounds this is 3.08 pounds, so if like me you have a 3lb turkey breast you want to air fry, then the air fryer cook times will be spot on for you.

Turkey Breast Air Fryer Ingredients

Breast – Its all about your turkey breast in this recipe. I advise that you use a boneless turkey breast because they cook quicker in the air fryer, are easier to prep and it’s easy to speed up the cook time.

Vinegar – Balsamic vinegar or something similar such as apple cider vinegar are ideal for stopping your turkey from drying out and adding moisture back into the breast.

Oil – This same method applies to extra virgin olive oil too. And having a bit of both makes all the difference to cooking a turkey breast in the air fryer.

Seasoning – As well as using the oil to keep your turkey breast moist it also works as the glue for your seasonings. You rub the seasonings over the oil and it sticks perfectly and creates a herby crust to your turkey.

Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in our air fryer turkey breast recipe, it has just been our Philips Air Fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.

The cooking time for turkey breast in the air fryer is 40 minutes. With a 20 minute cook time on each side.

But you can reduce the cook time of your turkey breast by slicing it after it has been cooking for 30 minutes.

Simply slice up your turkey breast, just like you would when its cooked for serving.

Notes

Slower. You can also do just 20 minutes on each side, and it will be cooked. We prefer 15 minutes on each side and slicing it up for the final bit of cooking. It speeds it up and ensures it is thoroughly cooked.
Swaps. You can also swap the seasonings, depending on what you prefer. I like to use sage too and it gives it that turkey roast taste, especially if you are pairing it with stuffing.

  1. Have you tried this in a rotisserie air fryer oven? I would assume it might be the same seasoning and time (w/o turning and slicing) as this one but if you could confirm it would be appreciated? Thx!

    • Hi Jan,

I would shave a bit of time off maybe 5- 10 minutes because with the turkey been on the rotisserie it is constantly turning so heat is not obstructed at all and with it having a rod through it that gets hot that helps it cook quicker in the middle. So just start checking after with a temperature Gage from 25 minutes and go from there 🙂
