Soup Maker Tomato Soup

What soup do you remember from childhood? Mine was always tomato soup. Every house I had lunch at, would bring out the cans of tomato soup.

It wasn’t lunch time without Heinz tomato soup and some cheese on toast to serve with it.

Aunts, uncles, grandparents, parents, school friends parents, all had some tomato soup for an easy lunch in the winter months.

It wasn’t until many years later, when I was in my 20’s that I learnt how to make my own tomato soup and just loved the taste and the different ingredients being added.

But what I didn’t like was all the pots and pans and the effort involved.

That is why, back in 2014, I bought my first soup maker and of course, the first soup ever made in it was soup maker tomato soup.

So good and plenty to feed the three of us (before Sofia and Jorge came along) and of course we made it with some cheese toasties.

Now over the years we have improved and improved the recipe and today I am so pleased to share with you our creamy and delicious tomato soup in the soup maker that you can just dump the ingredients in the soup maker and return when it beeps.

How Do You Make Soup In A Soup Maker?

The process of making soup in the soup maker is so EASY. And is not like making soup the traditional way in a pan on the stove.

Morphy Richards Soup Maker Tomato And Basil Soup

The most popular soup maker to own is the Morphy Richards soup maker which is much smaller than ours. We used the Ninja Soup Maker (also called the hot and cold blender).

Because of the size difference we recommend if making a Morphy Richards Tomato Soup that you half the ingredients or make two batches of tomato soup.

Tomato And Red Pepper Soup In Soup Maker

My favourite tomato soup add in ingredient is red pepper. It compliments the tomatoes and gives it that Mediterranean tomato soup flavour.

Chef Dom doesn’t like peppers, but he loves the flavour it adds to soup.

We also recommend that your tomato soup maker recipe includes plenty of basil. You can add fresh basil or dried basil. Though I am greedy and always include both!

How Do You Thicken Soup In A Soup Maker?

The secret ingredient for thickening a soup in the soup maker is any root vegetable or potato. You prep and cook the ingredient with the soup and then it will create a thicker texture to your soup.

If you have already made a soup and think its too watery, then you can rescue your soup with some mashed potato.

In this soup maker tomato and basil soup recipe we used a single sweet potato to thicken the soup.

Do You Add Milk Or Water To Tomato Soup?

To you don’t add either to a tomato soup. No milk or water is needed for a creamy tomato soup and either of these two will ruin the soup.

That is because you will have the dishwasher effect where it tastes diluted and doesn’t have a great flavour or texture.

Instead in your tomato soup in a soup maker recipe you get your liquid from the tomatoes (full of juice) and from tinned tomatoes.

Tomato Soup Maker Ingredients

Tomato Soup Maker Ingredients

Onions – For the best ever tomato soup I recommend some onion as it adds a lovely flavour to it. You can use red or brown or you can use some shallots.

Garlic – My soup maker hack is to buy either some frozen chopped garlic or some garlic puree. It makes the soup so much easy to prep for.

Veggies – Then for the main veggies in the tomato soup we are adding a sweet potato, red pepper, salad tomatoes, and tinned tomatoes, as well as some tomato puree.

Seasonings – For seasonings, we are keeping it simple with salt, pepper, basil, and mixed herbs. You can use fresh or dried basil.

Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this tomato soup for soup maker it has just been our Ninja Soup Maker. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of soup maker recipes.

A lovely winter warmer soup, perfect as a base for a sauce as well. I had a loaf of bread left over from my Christmas baking so served this up with it and with a sprinkle of cheddar on top it was perfect, warmed us right up.
