Air Fryer Frozen Roast Potatoes
Air Fryer Frozen Roast Potatoes is the best. The potato skin is wonderfully crispy, to the point where you and your family will argue over who gets the last roast potato.
As well as this the inside the roast potato is piping hot.
This is a big deal because, when you’re cooking large potatoes in the air fryer, its hard to cook them through without cooking it at a lower temperature.
These frozen roast potatoes are much healthier than the ones that Dominic introduced me to. You see apart from Air Fryer Frozen Fish & Chips I would say that roast potatoes are his favourite comfort food.
He would make me roast potatoes from scratch and roast them in the oven with more butter than he would admit to.
Then load them up with a lot of baked beans and cheese and they were truly amazing.
But I am sure there were more than 1500 calories per portion and something I wish was zero calories but isn’t.
But if you made our frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer you could add baked beans and cheese and I bet it would be a LOT LESS calories.
Can You Cook Frozen Roast Potatoes In An Actifry?
YES, you can. I find that the Actifry is much slower than a regular air fryer basket. I recommend that you follow our air fryer recipe for frozen roast potatoes and then increase the cook time by about 20%.
Or check on your Actifry frozen roast potatoes and see what extra cook time that they need.
Or if you are cooking frozen roast potatoes in Ninja Foodi, then instead of increasing the cook time by 20% go with an extra 10%. Then check on them and see if they need a little extra.
Who Makes The Best Frozen Roast Potatoes?
Out of the different frozen roast potatoes that I have tried, the BEST is ALWAYS Aunt Bessie’s frozen roast potatoes. You can always tell when you eat Aunt Bessie frozen products and how they taste miles better than everyone else.
I always notice this when I air fry frozen Yorkshire puddings too.
McCain oven roasted potatoes is a good backup plan if you can’t get hold of Aunt Bessie’s.
Though, I do find own branded Iceland frozen roast potatoes are rather bland and boring in comparison and I need to add things to them to make them taste better.
How To Improve Frozen Roast Potatoes?
The usual naughty foods are the best way to improve your frozen potatoes.
Think about tossing them in butter, adding cheese, more extra virgin olive oil, or some bacon.
Or if you like ranch potatoes, then you can use frozen roast potatoes to achieve this.
Simply cook your roast potatoes with bacon and then 2 minutes before the end of cooking, add in some grated cheese.
Cooking Frozen Roast Potatoes In The Air Fryer
There are 2 different temperature options when it comes to cooking frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer.
Dominic and I often argue over which one is best and we have the same argument when it comes to air fryer frozen French fries too.
Frozen Roast Potatoes Option #1 – Dominic’s Method
Cooking frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer for 15 minutes at a medium temperature. Check on the frozen roast potatoes halfway through, give them a shake and that is it!
Frozen Roast Potatoes Option #2 – Samantha’s Method
Cooking frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer on low for 10 minutes, followed by 5 minutes on high.
This allows the frozen roast potatoes to be crispy on the outside and pipping hot in the middle. Often roast potatoes need a higher temperature for the crispy skin.
Though through this air fryer roast potatoes recipe today, we will be showing you Dominic’s method as it is hands free and easier!
How To Cook Frozen Roast Potatoes In The Air Fryer?
To cook frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer, requires no complicated kitchen accessories just your air fryer and your air fryer basket that comes with the air fryer.
There is no oil required for air fryer roast potatoes as when they were frozen and blanched when bought, means that this part of the job is sorted!
- Load frozen roast potatoes into the air fryer.
- Air fry.
- Toss in seasonings.
That is it!
Though I love to have my roast potatoes with rosemary and a bit more salt. So, once my roast potatoes beeped, I added some salt and rosemary to them.
Are Frozen Roast Potatoes Healthy?
Yes, they are! If you think about frozen roast potatoes, they are often potatoes that have been blanched and then frozen. Then by reheating your frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer you are keeping the oil levels way down and keeping them healthy.
When I am feeling frugal and buy some potatoes on clearance I blanche them in the Instant Pot, freeze them with a little extra virgin olive oil and it’s a cheaper and healthier alternative to purchasing frozen roast potatoes.
You could do the same. You could also swap the white potatoes for sweet potatoes if you’re on Paleo.
I also know many people that do this with sweet potatoes that they have purchased when they were in season.
Aunt Bessie’s Roast Potatoes Cooking Time?
Frozen roast potatoes cooking time is JUST 15 minutes. Though note these are large frozen roast potatoes that have been blanched by the manufacturer before being frozen.
When I make our homemade air fryer roast potatoes, I make smaller ones and the cook time is around the same.
Also note, these same air fryer frozen roast potatoes cook times can apply to any brand of roast potatoes and doesn’t have to be Aunt Bessie’s or McCain.
Or if you wanted to reheat frozen roast potatoes the same rule would apply.

Please tell me how to blanch the baby potatoes in the Instant Pot. I’m having difficulty finding a tried and true method. Thank you.
We have not actually blanched potatoes yet just tried some vegetables. But if you want try potatoes i suggest putting the instant pot on high pressure and cook for zero minutes, this should then blanch them but depending on how big they are they could be undercooked or over cooked. What we did with vegetables is use hot water not cold and put onto half pressure and cook for zero minutes and the broccoli came out just blanched and they were big florets.
Hope this helps in your search 🙂
