Galaxy Chocolate Cake

There is no denying it. I am a HUGE galaxy chocolate fan and have loved it ever since I first tried it as a kid.

Whilst other kids were team Dairy Milk and preferred Cadbury’s I always loved Galaxy more.

The other problem is I can’t control myself. I can’t just have one line of a galaxy chocolate bar, I have to have a whole one.

So, when I was thinking about what Easter cakes to make you for the air fryer that can be made with Easter eggs, my first thought was, to make a galaxy chocolate cake and make it in a similar way to when we make an air fryer chocolate cake. But of course, make it easier by mixing everything in the Thermomix. But note if you don’t have a thermomix you can do it by hand.

Can Galaxy Chocolate Be Melted?

Yes, galaxy chocolate can be melted and its one of my favourite chocolates to melt and I would choose melting galaxy chocolate over Cadburys. Its because Galaxy, also known as Galaxy smooth is a very creamy chocolate and once melted it will make the best fondue or like we are using it today, as a delicious chocolate ganache.

Thermomix Cake Meets The Air Fryer

I never realised I needed a Thermomix until I got one. I never got on with any food processors I had tried, and Thermomix has just become my baking BFF.

I also hate baking cakes in the oven and find that I always burn them or forget about them.

That is why my dream cake is a Thermomix mixed cake and then baked in the air fryer.

Is Air Fryer Good For Cake?

Yes, an air fryer is very good for cake. I have been cooking cakes in the air fryer for almost 10 years and have done so many different types and they are yet to fail me.

I have made a typical air fryer chocolate cake, an air fryer victoria sponge, air fryer carrot cake and air fryer lemon drizzle cake to name a few.

Can You Use A Normal Cake Tin In An Air Fryer?

Yes, you can use a normal cake tin in the air fryer BUT it must fit the size of your air fryer. For example, in this air fryer Christmas cake the silicone cake pan we are using is a 6 inch and comfortably fits the air fryer basket.

However, if we had a deep cake pan or a larger sized cake pan, it wouldn’t fit the air fryer.

Plus, we much prefer to use silicone as there is no parchment paper required and it never sticks.

What Temperature Do You Air Fry Cake?

We have found that the perfect temperature to air fry cake is 160c/320f this cooks the cake in the centre and stops it from burning on top.

Galaxy Cake Ingredients

Galaxy Cake Ingredients

Cake – We are using similar ingredients to our main chocolate cake, except adding in Galaxy hot chocolate powder rather than cocoa powder. Other key ingredients include caster sugar, self raising flour, unsalted butter, vanilla extract, milk and olive oil.

Ganache – Plus, for the ganache we are using Galaxy easter chocolate, butter and double cream. The butter makes it taste even better.

Chocolate – Then of course after covering the cake with ganache we added lots of chocolate decorations over the cake that were a nice mix of leftover Easter chocolate.

You can of course mix and match with any Easter supplies you have available. You can also make this after Easter to make use of all the chocolate that needs using up.

Plus, you can opt to make extra chocolate ganache for the middle of the cake or add a little of our Thermomix buttercream with some extra Galaxy and you have a chocolatey buttercream.

Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this galaxy chocolate cake recipe it has been our Cosori & Philips Air Fryer. Plus we have also used our Thermomix.

Plus, we recommend you head over to our air fryer recipes category as we have more than 500 tried and tested air fryer recipes and have been air frying for 10 years.

How To Make A Galaxy Themed Cake?

air-fryer-galaxy-cake-step-by-step
  • Mix. Start by mixing sugar and butter in the thermomix until light and fluffy. Then add the remaining wet ingredients (olive oil, eggs, vanilla) and mix. Then add in the flour and galaxy powder and then scrape the edges to get rid of any bits that have not mixed very well.
  • Cook. Then pour the Galaxy cake batter between two silicone cake pans and cook in the air fryer. This will take approximately 45 minutes depending on the speed of your air fryer. Then take out from the air fryer, allow to cool and then remove the silicone.
  • Ganache. Next make the ganache in the Thermomix. Add the double cream, butter and Easter chocolate and cook on 75c/165f for 5 minutes on speed 2 or until you have a creamy ganache.
  • Assemble. When the cakes are cool add one cake to a cake board, then add a layer of the ganache or some buttercream, then sandwich the other cake on top. Then pour over the ganache.
  • Decorate. Then finish with your leftover chocolates and then when you are done place it into the fridge for an hour to set. Then serve.

Though you can of course mix and match the decorations on your galaxy cake and it can be made with just galaxy chocolate or like us with Easter treats.

    • Hi Liz,

No you do not put 2 pans in the air fryer, they will not fit unless it is an air fryer oven which has trays, we have 4 air fryers so can cook 2 at the same time, so if making a double layer cake like this one cook one then the other 🙂
