Microwave Omelette Maker
Me and my beloved microwave omelette maker were love at first sight. I had never had an omelette maker before and didn’t realise I needed one.
Then I was at the end of the aisle in one of my favourite discount stores and they had a selection of cheap accessories for the microwave.
Out jumped this microwave omelette maker and I just knew I was going to buy it and use it all the time at home in my microwave.
But I am also aware that many people are just buying theirs and are looking for a simple recipe to follow and today, that is exactly what you’re getting!
Can You Microwave Eggs In The Microwave?
Yes, you sure can microwave eggs. In fact, you can make several kinds of eggs using just your microwave.
Boiled – (microwave hard boiled eggs and microwave soft boiled eggs) are delicious in the microwave and this is the fastest way to make them.
Scrambled – Scrambled eggs are easy and delicious in the microwave. My husband Dom makes himself scrambled eggs this way every morning.
An omelette like this one we’ve shown you today is another great option for a fast, easy breakfast in your microwave.
Can You Cook An Omelette In The Microwave?
Yes, you sure can and you have a few different options.
You can use a microwave omelette maker (like we are using) but there is also another option and that is a microwave omelette in a mug. This is where you add all the ingredients to a mug, and then microwave in the mug and its quick and easy, though I often find you have to soak the mug afterwards!
But with an omelette maker, its plastic and wipes clean really easily.
How Many Eggs In A Microwave Omelette Maker?
We recommend up to 3 large eggs. This is because you can easily overfill your omelette maker.
In our recipe we have used 2, and you can see how full the well is. For this reason, we wouldn’t recommend using more than 3 large eggs.
Microwave Omelette Ingredients
Eggs – For making an egg in microwave we used two large eggs. Though you can squeeze three in, but you may need to increase the microwave cooking time.
Milk – A dash of milk is perfect for an omelette. If you don’t like them eggy, I’d recommend adding a little more. About 1 teaspoon per egg used is perfect.
Cheese – We love our omelettes with grated cheddar cheese! You can use your preferred cheese in your microwave omelette.
Veggies – You can mix and match with classic omelette fillings such as sliced ham, mushrooms, spinach, and tomatoes.
Though we used ½ green pepper and cherry tomatoes, you can customise your omelette to fit your tastes.
Protein – shredded chicken or turkey work well in this recipe as they aren’t very fatty and combine well with the other flavours. This is the perfect recipe to use up any leftover meat you may have in your fridge!
Seasoning – Then for seasoning your omelette you can mix and match but we used 2 teaspoons of dried mixed herbs.
Microwave Egg White Omelette – You can of course (especially good for weight loss) make an egg white omelette and add your own preferred mixture.
What I love most about making an omelette in the microwave is that you don’t have to watch it, like you do with a pan, it still keeps its shape thanks to the omelette maker, and you can mix and match with your favourite omelette fillings.
Can You Recommend A Microwave?
I often get asked which microwave we recommend and what we use. Well, we have a microwave that is looking a bit old now and on a low wattage.
If we were to change our microwave today, we would swap it for this Panasonic one which is 1000w.
How To Use Microwave Omelette Maker?
If you have not used a microwave omelette maker before, then I am sure you want the ABC of omelette microwave maker instructions.
Well, it really is as simple as learning the alphabet. You pour the omelette mixture that you have prepared between the two sections. Then transfer it to the microwave to cook. Then when its almost cooked you tip it over to become one unit, finish cooking and this gives it that traditional microwave look.
How Do You Cook An Omelette In The Microwave?
- Mix. Start by cracking your eggs into a mixing bowl and beat them with a fork. Add in your milk and any seasonings you’re using.
- Pour. Put into the omelette maker being careful to spread it evenly between the two sections.
- Prep. Wash and cut any veggies you are adding. For example, we have included some chunks of green pepper, and halved cherry tomatoes.
- Sprinkle. Then sprinkle any veggies and some cheese over the omelette. We also added in some shredded chicken that needed using up.
- Cook. Your omelette is now ready for the microwave. Carefully place the omelette into the microwave and microwave on full power for 3 minutes.
- Flip. Check on the omelette and if almost done, fold the omelette over so that you can no longer see the omelette. Cook on full power for a final 90 seconds, or slightly less for a higher wattage, before carefully removing and serving.

Sam & Doms Top Tips For Success
There are two important things with an omelette in the microwave.
- Make sure when reheating your omelette that you are not reheating twice meat, as it can only be reheated once.
- That you don’t overfill the omelette maker as it will take too long and make a lot of mess in your microwave.
