Make Hard Boiled Eggs In Microwave
When I mentioned to many of the Recipe This readers that I was doing a microwave month, most asked me if I would make hard boiled eggs in the microwave for them.
A microwave recipe that they had always wanted to master, but each time they tried, the eggs exploded in the microwave, or the cook times were off.
In one day, Dominic and I went through more than 60 large eggs in the Milner kitchen as we tried and tested and perfected the hard boiled eggs microwave recipe.
Today, we are going to be showing you (with the help of Jorge) how to hard boil an egg in the microwave.
Can You Hard Boil An Egg In The Microwave?
Yes, you can. You can microwave hard boiled eggs, or like we mentioned yesterday soft boiled eggs in the microwave.
You can hard boil as many eggs that will fit in a bowl inside your microwave.
How To Hard Boil One Egg In The Microwave?
The beauty of the microwave is that you can hard boil one egg, or you can hard boil eight eggs. Its totally about personal choice and how many eggs you need to cook.
For example, if I am just doing one egg for a dinner for one, then I would recommend you follow our hard boiled eggs recipe and just cook one.
Why Do Hard Boiled Eggs Explode In Microwave?
Hard boiled eggs explode in the microwave because they need moisture as they cook and it leads to them exploding.
The way around eggs exploding in the microwave, is like Dominic is demonstrating below, which is pricking an egg with either a pin or a needle.
But what we have found from this hard boiled eggs method is that because the moisture is released, it is much harder to peel the eggs once they have finished cooking.
Best Way To Cook Hard Boiled Eggs?
The best way to cook hard boiled eggs, out of the different ways that I have tried is in the air fryer.
Sorry to the microwave, but they are just not as good and not as easy.
The air fryer gives you simplicity with eggs.
You don’t need to prick the eggs they are done in JUST 16 minutes and there is no warming up water.

What You Need To Hard Boil Eggs In The Microwave
Eggs – I recommend doing up to 8 hard boiled eggs at once in the microwave. Though you can do them in batches depending on what you are using them for.
Water – These hard boiled eggs need to be submerged in a microwave safe container in water to be cooked in the microwave.
Pin – You will also need a pin, you’re a needle or something similar with a pointed edge to prick into the bottom of the egg shell.
Container – Then for your microwave safe container I recommend a large bowl as its deep enough for the eggs to submerge and with its perfect for peeling the eggs from once they are cooked.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this microwave hard boiled eggs recipe it has just been our Panasonic Microwave Oven. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of microwave recipes.
