Turkey Breast In Ninja Foodi

Today is day 8 of our 14 day turkey theme at Recipe This. We are showcasing some of the best ways to cook turkey with kitchen gadgets.

We have already showed you how to cook air fryer turkey burgers, air fryer boneless turkey breast, air fryer turkey crown, air fryer turkey legs, air fryer turkey thighs, air fryer turkey wings and yesterday it was a full air fryer turkey dinner with all the trimmings in just over an hour.

But today it gets even better with a Ninja Foodi turkey breast.

My favourite thing about the Ninja Foodi and what has me cooking with it so often, is its ability to go from pressure cooking to air frying at the click of a button.

There is nothing more perfect than Ninja Foodi turkey breast. This is because you get the best of both worlds.

You get the crispy skin from the turkey with the air fryer lid and then you have the most tender turkey you have ever eaten thanks to the pressure cooker function.

If you are nervous about cooking a turkey breast because you normally dry it out, or are frighted that you might, then this is the ideal recipe for you.

Though of course, the homemade gravy and stuffing balls, do give it the ultimate wow factor.

Can You Cook A Turkey Breast In A Ninja Foodi?

Yes, you can cook a turkey breast in a Ninja Foodi and it will shock you with how good it is. I just look at the photos and memories come flooding back to just how delicious it is and why I wish I had got a Ninja Foodi sooner.

But at the time I didn’t think I needed one. After all, I have this air fryer and this electric pressure cooker. But OMG a total life changer.

Turkey Crown In Ninja Foodi

Turkey Crown In Ninja Foodi

I live in Yorkshire in England and in Britain instead of being called a ninja foodi turkey breast or a ninja foodi breast bone in, we call our turkey a turkey crown.

This is because it is the crown (the best bit) of the turkey and is minus what we call the brown meat. So we can just enjoy the turkey breast at its best.

If you live in the UK and call it a turkey crown, or in the USA and call it a turkey breast, note its one of the same.

Though, the only real difference is that we are using an Iceland stuffed crown. You can do the same, or why not use a Bernard Matthews stuffed turkey?

Ninja Foodi Turkey Breast With Stuffing

A big complaint for you now, when it comes to pre bought turkeys that are sold with stuffing.

It is never sealed up enough, compared to if you did your own turkey and stuffing and the stuffing always falls out!

Quick Ninja Foodi turkey breast with stuffing solution for YOU, collect up the stuffing that falls out, make into stuffing balls and air fry when you do the turkey skin.

Ninja Foodi Turkey Breast With Stuffing

I feel like this is the turkey and stuffing having a silver lining because it makes the stuffing balls crispy, something that wouldn’t be achieved if it stayed in the cavity the whole time.

Turkey – You can use any small to medium turkey breast or turkey crown that will fit in your Ninja Foodi. It can be one with stuffing or one without.

Stock – This is essential for both the homemade turkey gravy and for the flavours in the pressure cooker. It also makes a LOT of gravy and because it is so creamy you can use it as a turkey stock, or you can transform it into a turkey soup for another day. I usually include celery, potatoes, carrots, and onion.

Wine – I also have some white wine to hand to deglaze the Ninja Foodi with before I pressure cook the turkey. This adds even more flavour to your turkey.

Oil – I recommend some extra virgin olive oil in a spray bottle that you can spray all over the turkey breast. This will help create crispy air fryer turkey breast.

Seasoning – Now this is personal choice with what you include. I love to use mixed herbs and salt and pepper. Though sage and thyme are also fantastic alternatives.

Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in our ninja foodi turkey breast roast, it has just been our Ninja Foodi and our Ninja Soup Maker. We love combining both in our recipes because they are both amazing and I can’t live without either of them!

How Do You Cook A Turkey Breast In A Ninja Foodi?

ninja foodi turkey breast step by step
  • Prep. Start by prepping your vegetables for your stock and sauteing them in the Ninja Foodi with some extra virgin olive oil.
  • Deglaze. Add the white wine and deglaze your Ninja. Add in your frozen turkey stock and sit your turkey breast side down on the trivet.
  • Cook. Pressure cook for 25 minutes followed by a 5 minute natural pressure release.
  • Extras. Now that you have almost cooked your turkey breast its about giving it the X factor and air frying it for crispy skin. Remove the turkey and put to one side. You can use the trivet for this as its easier to move. Then pour your stock into the soup maker. Grab any stuffing that has fallen out and make into stuffing balls.
  • Air Fry. Then place your turkey breast, breast side up in the air fryer basket in your cooking pot and air fry for 10 minutes with the stuffing balls.
  • Gravy. As your air fryer works its magic let your soup maker also work its magic by blending your leftover stock into the best ever gravy.

How Long Do You Cook A Turkey Breast In A Ninja Foodi?

The Ninja Foodi turkey breast cook time is JUST 35 minutes.

Isn’t that Ninja Foodi turkey cook time impressive? This is split up as follows:

  • 25 minutes pressure cooking
  • 10 minutes air frying

If you are unsure about how long to cook a turkey breast in the Ninja Foodi then note, it comes down to precise timing depending on the size of your turkey.

This rule applies to any bone in poultry you pressure cook including whole duck and whole chicken.

You cook your turkey breast for 6 minutes for each pound. Therefore, if you have a 4 pound turkey then it works out at 24 minutes.

Our turkey crown weighed 2.2kg which is 4.8lbs which is just short of 30 minutes. If we were not air frying, we would have done 30 minutes. But we reduced it by 5 minutes due to a 10 minute air fry.

Notes

Stuffing. You can use our Ninja Foodi turkey recipe, regardless of if you have a stuffed turkey or not.
Seasoning. You can swap the mixed herbs for any other favourite seasoning. I love sage, parsley, rosemary, or basil with my roast turkey meals.
Stock. Whenever I make other turkey meals and I have spare stock, I freeze it and cook from frozen in the pressure cooker. It cooks from frozen and makes my Ninja Foodi meals even more delicious. I recommend you do the same and don’t forget the leftover turkey gravy can become a frozen stock cube.

  3. I have a foodi grill 4 in 1 that does not have a pressure cooker, but does have an air fryer. How would this change the the cook times. I assume I would use the bake or roast time, and follow the rest of the recipe.

    • Hi KK,

The air fryer option is only used in the recipe to crisp the skin on top. The pressure cooking element means the turkey will be cooked so much quicker. We have no experience with the Ninja 4 in 1 grill, but yes the cook time would be double i would say if just using the bake/air fry way of cooking it 🙂
