Steak In Ninja Foodi

I just had to do it. I just had to cook steak in the Ninja Foodi.

After all, I have already cooked instant pot frozen steak, air fryer frozen steak, regular air fryer steak, and air fryer steak and fries.

As the Ninja Foodi does both air frying and pressure cooking, it going to be a tough choice of which would be the best way to cook steak in the Ninja Foodi.

After all, air fryer steak has this wonderful sear on it, while pressure cooker steak is perfect for a cheaper cut of meat such as braising steak.

After a bit of discussion in the Milner house and talking about how much we love steak, we agreed that when we tested Ninja Foodi steak it would have to be using the air fryer lid.

The plan would be to use the Ninja Foodi rack rather than the air fryer basket and watch over it, while licking our lips.

Of course, it would be done while the little Milner’s where at preschool so that it was just steak for mummy and daddy.

Can You Cook Steak In The Ninja Foodi?

Yes, you can. The Ninja Foodi is an air fryer, pressure cooker, slow cooker in one. You will find thousands of recipes on the internet teaching you these three methods for cooking steak.

You can take any of these steak recipes to the Ninja Foodi and as long as it’s a quality recipe you are following, it will turn out perfectly.

Ninja Air Fryer Steak

If you want to cook steak like you would in your regular air fryer, on the grill, on the barbecue, or like you would in the frying pan, then Ninja Air Fryer steak is the best option.

Though what I don’t recommend is the air fryer basket that comes with your air fryer. Instead, it’s best to do it like this on the Ninja Foodi rack:

The steak is then closer to the air fryer lid and you will get a better sear on your steak. Plus, it is easier for the juices from the steak (and the fat) dripping through and keeping your steak more like healthy grilled steak.

Frozen Steak In Ninja Foodi

As someone that has cooked frozen steak in the instant pot and cooked frozen steak in the air fryer, I am keen to cook frozen steak in the Ninja Foodi.

But what method should you follow?

  • Cheap cut of steak = go with a pressure cook
  • Quality cut of steak = use the air fryer lid

When I did cook air fryer frozen steak, I found that it tasted better than a regular steak in the air fryer. I felt this was because it was cooked at a lower temperature and cooked slower.

If you want to do frozen steak in Ninja Foodi I recommend that you reduce the temperature to 160c/360f and cook for an extra 3 minutes on each side. But do check as it cooks as you don’t want to overcook your steak.

Ninja Foodi Sirloin Steak

If you are wondering how to cook sirloin steak in Ninja Foodi, then note it’s like cooking any steak in the Ninja Foodi or any steak in an air fryer.

We are using sirloin steak here in the Milner kitchen just because it’s the easiest steak for us to buy.

If we want steak, then sirloin is always our go to and OMG sirloin steak in an air fryer (or Ninja Foodi) is amazing.

Medium Rare Steak Ninja Foodi?

Okay I am a rare to medium rare steak kind of girl. I know not many ladies like their steak like that, but I do.

I never used to. In fact, aged 18 when I started dating Dominic, I would always ask for steak that was well done and demand zero blood.

Then I developed my love for a Brazilian buffet. You would have sirloin carved at your table that was so pink it would be considered too rare to be a medium. I loved how tender it was and how I hate it if my steak is well done.

If you are like me and want medium rare steak in the Ninja Foodi, or maybe you just want a medium. Then it is easy to adjust your cook times and temperatures to get your kind of perfect Ninja Foodi steak.

Notes

Medium. We cooked our Ninja Foodi steak for 10 minutes for medium rare. If you would rather have medium cook for an extra 2 minutes on each side. Or if you would like medium to well done go for 16 minutes or for well done 20 minutes.
Seasoning. Sirloin steak (and many other steak cuts) are beautiful with just salt and pepper. Don’t ruin your steak with lots of different seasonings and keep it simple.
Size. Note that our steaks are 225g or 8oz steak. You will need to adjust a little if you have a smaller or a larger steak.

  1. A bit confused… instructions for frozen steak said to reduce the temperature to 160C/360F and cook an additional 3 minutes per side. The recipe for steak that is NOT frozen called for temperature at 180c/360F for 5 minutes per side for medium rare.
Should the temperature for FROZEN steak be 160C/320F?
    Thanks

    1. Hi Renee,

Yes 160c/320f is correct. This is because if the frozen steak is cooked at the same temp as fresh steak with the way the air fryer cooks it would still be frozen in the middle this is why we do the temp lower so it also cooks in the middle 🙂
