Reheat Bread

I love to reheat bread and its one of those things that I have always done.

I remember it became a food thing to buy loaves of bread in bulk from the supermarket, load them into the freezer and then reheat them as you needed them.

The idea being, that instead of going back and forth to the grocery store when you ran out of bread, you could grab some from the freezer instead.

I loved the idea and remembered doing it in the Milner house many years ago.

These days, our bread habits have changed. We tend to have bread on special occasions and don’t eat a lot of sandwiches.

But also, back then in 2002 we didn’t have an air fryer and now it feels like the air fryer is that amazing go to tool when it comes to reheating food.

Today I wanted to share with you the various bread products that I reheat in the air fryer and how you can do the same. Its fantastic for avoiding food waste and for getting more out of your bread.

Can You Reheat Bread In An Air Fryer?

Yes, you can, and I have been reheating bread in an air fryer for years.

In fact, if you are wondering what the best way is to reheat bread, it’s the air fryer.

The oven and the grill and the microwave are not as good and don’t produce the same results.

How To Reheat Leftover Naan Bread?

Quite often, I will have some leftover naan bread. I will buy a pack of it and because I am the only one that likes it, there will be a supply in the freezer.

When we couldn’t go grocery shopping recently we all reheated some naan bread in the air fryer and I served mine with my favourite Slimming World chickpea curry.

Reheat leftover naan instructions – Place a naan bread in the air fryer basket and cook for 2 minutes at 180c/360f or 4 minutes at 160c/320f if frozen.

How To Reheat Pita Bread?

Another favourite is to reheat pita bread. What you do when you reheat pita bread is place it in the air fryer basket and then a quick reheat and its done.

But there is a better way to reheat pita bread and that is to transform it into air fryer pita bread pizzas. They are delicious and a great way to use up pitas that you forgot about.

Reheat pita instructions – Place a single pita in the air fryer basket and cook for 1 minutes at 180c/360f or 2 minutes at 160c/320f if frozen.

How To Reheat Bread Rolls?

This is what Dominic reheats in the air fryer the most. He loves to make bread machine dinner rolls and then he will make them in batches.

The next day when we want a quick meal fix, he will load bread rolls into the air fryer and reheat them. Usually with some butter!

Reheat bread rolls instructions – Place up to 4 bread rolls in the air fryer basket and cook for 3 minutes at 160c/320f.

How To Reheat Frozen Bread Rolls?

Dominic is an ex-chef so is not big of meal prep, because he can get dinner done so fast anyway. But what he does love to do is batch cook bread rolls and load them into the freezer. He will make about 12 of them at once, then place them onto a baking try and then into a freezer bag.

Then he will reheat frozen bread rolls in the air fryer when we need them.

Reheat frozen bread rolls instructions – Place up to 4 frozen bread rolls in the air fryer basket and cook for 12 minutes at 100c/210f.

How To Reheat Frozen Bread?

I call this my prequel to air fryer grilled cheese sandwiches. That is because when I make grilled cheese in the air fryer, I will grab frozen bread from the freezer to do it with.

Then I will reheat the frozen bread first, so that its like regular fresh bread. Then I will transform it into grilled cheese.

Reheat frozen bread instructions – Place up to four slices of frozen bread into the air fryer basket. Cook for 1 minute at 160c/320f.

How To Reheat Old Bread?

My favourite use of old bread is to turn it into something. Usually, this will be air fryer croutons. Just because croutons in the air fryer are so easy and make old bread amazing again.

You can then use your croutons in another recipe such as a salad in summer and air fryer stuffing balls in winter. Or maybe make breakfast interesting with some air fryer French toast soldiers.

Reheat old bread instructions – Place your old bread in the air fryer basket and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. Air fry for 2 minutes at 160c/320f and your bread will now be fresh again.

If you want to reheat bread in the air fryer then this is the universal method:

  1. Load leftover bread into the air fryer basket.
  2. Air fry.
  3. Serve.

The cook times may change from what bread you are reheating, but the principle is the same.

How To Reheat Bread Without Making It Hard?

The most important part of using the air fryer to reheat bread, is to keep the temperature and the cook time down.

Otherwise, you will end up with bread that is hard and inedible.

Never go over 160c/320f when reheating bread as otherwise you are cooking the bread again, rather than reheating it.
