Slimming World Pea & Mint Soup
I originally shared with you this Slimming World mint and pea soup with you back in early 2016.
The plan was to dedicate the month to eating lots of soup and to see how much weight I could lose with slimming world soups. As I recall it was about a stone and a half and I was well pleased with myself.
I made sure all the soups were delicious and not boring and didn’t taste like diet soup.
But back then I had a low opinion of frozen vegetables. I thought apart from sweetcorn and frozen peas that they were too watery, flavourless and wouldn’t be good for cooking with.
A few years later I fell madly in love with frozen vegetables and now use frozen vegetables more than fresh in my soup maker recipes.
But because of my bad opinions, pea soup became the first soup I cooked with just frozen vegetables.
And you know what?
Frozen pea soup is delicious and something I make when I am feeling lazy and want something quick for dinner. Or if I have fallen off the wagon there will be air fryer bread rolls too.
Are Frozen Peas Syn Free On Slimming World?
Yes they are. Its one of the great things about Slimming world that you can have as much as you want of any vegetable.
Frozen peas are also high in nutrients making them ideal for cooking from frozen in your soup maker.
Can You Make Pea Soup From Frozen Peas?
Absolutely! and I truly recommend that you do. You load frozen peas into your soup maker, along with stock and seasonings and then you will have the perfect bowl of frozen pea soup.
How Long Do Frozen Peas Take To Cook?
How does 2 minutes sound? Frozen peas are very fast to cook because they are already cooked when they were frozen.
It is like reheating frozen peas when cooking with them rather than starting from scratch, plus its so time consuming shelling peas.
I often grab some frozen peas and stir them into casseroles at the end of the casserole cook time. Because the casserole is very hot the peas melt and cook in a couple of minutes.
Though because frozen peas are very solid, they can handle a much longer cook time if needed.
Soup Maker Pea Soup
The most important thing to learn with soup maker pea soup is to shut down the cook time after 15 minutes.
You see most soup makers will have between 25-30 minutes as a default cook time. There won’t be the option to change the cook time either.
Because frozen peas don’t need 30 minutes I recommend you cancel the soup maker at about 15 minutes. Then press the blend button to make your blended soup.
You could take it to 30 minutes and it wouldn’t ruin it, but when you want dinner now, you don’t want to be waiting around for an extra 15 minutes for no reason.
