Reheat Spaghetti
Behind the scenes of a food blogger involves lots of recipe testing, then testing again and then testing some more. It often results in a LOT of leftover food that you couldn’t possibly eat in one meal sitting.
This means that on recipe testing days we have two large fridges full of food and will often spend the next few days reheating it and enjoying it on other days.
Here is the amount of spaghetti Bolognese we had left over:
This was from making our Ninja Foodi Spaghetti.
We had made a few batches of it, until we had the ratio of Bolognese to spaghetti spot on.
Then of course the surplus spaghetti Bolognese is perfect for reheating using either the air fryer or the pressure cooker.
Today, I am going to show you exactly how to reheat spaghetti and how us Milner’s did it with our own leftovers.
Can You Reheat Spaghetti Bolognese?
Yes, you can. Its ideal for when you make too much, can’t manage all of your dinner, or you end up eating the Bolognese and then end up left with spare spaghetti noodles.
Can You Reheat Spaghetti Twice?
I often get asked can you reheat spaghetti twice? how many times can you reheat spaghetti? Or is it safe to reheat spaghetti?
Well, this depends on what exactly you are reheating. For example, the meaty Bolognese can only ever be reheated once. But the spaghetti noodles can be reheated twice.
Also, think about whether your Bolognese is homemade or not. You see if you are reheating it from takeout the chances are, when it was served to you, it was already reheated.
Many restaurants and takeaways will make ahead their spaghetti so that its quick for serving whenever they have a customer.
I also recommend you fridge your spaghetti straight away if you plan to have it reheated and then reheat within 2 days.
Or if you are just reheating the spaghetti noodles then reheat within 3 days.
Why Does Reheated Spaghetti Taste Better?
Pasta that is cooked twice often tastes better, then add to this the seasonings.
You will always season your spaghetti again when you go to reheat it so that the taste is better.
And by doing this, you can make your reheated spaghetti taste better.
Best Way To Reheat Spaghetti?
I have two best ways to reheat spaghetti. One involves an electric pressure cooker such as the Ninja Foodi or Instant Pot and the other involves the air fryer such as the Philips Air Fryer XL that we are using.
I use the air fryer for when I have a small portion of spaghetti Bolognese to reheat. Such as your own dinner plate leftovers that just need a quick reheat.
Or the electric pressure cooker when I have a big portion that needs reheating to feed our family.
Just examine your portion size first and then decide which one is most fitting to you.
Reheating Spaghetti In The Air Fryer – What I will do is load spaghetti Bolognese over a strip of aluminium foil and then place into the air fryer basket. I will then add cheese because we all need more cheese, right? And then air fry for 8 minutes at 180c/360f. Then serve. I can then be lazy with the washing up and eat from the foil!
Reheating Spaghetti In The Pressure Cooker – The most important thing is to find a container that fits. I used my old Philips Air Fryer XXL baking pan and it fits like a dream. Then I loaded it up with leftover spaghetti Bolognese. Then added 2 cups to the Ninja Foodi cooking pot, added a trivet and placed the baking pan over. Then pressure cooked for 3 minutes with a quick pressure release.
Both methods worked like a dream and the only thing I would now change is to add loads of extra cheese over the pressure cooker method.
How To Reheat Frozen Spaghetti?
You can also follow our pressure cooker method for reheating spaghetti and use frozen spaghetti instead. I am a big fan of using the electric pressure cooker for reheating frozen food and spaghetti is another of those great frozen foods.
All you do to reheat frozen spaghetti is to place it into the pressure cooker like you would with regular leftovers, then increase the cook time by 3 minutes. This extra 3 minutes will be enough to defrost your frozen spaghetti and you will have piping hot spaghetti.
How Long Do You Reheat Spaghetti Bolognese For?
This depends on whether you are reheating spaghetti in the air fryer or the pressure cooker.
When we reheated spaghetti Bolognese in the air fryer it took 8 minutes. Though note it was enough for just one person and wasn’t a big portion size.
However, when we reheated spaghetti Bolognese in our Ninja Foodi pressure cooker it took 2 minutes. But you also have to factor in the time it takes to go to pressure.
How To Reheat Spaghetti
Instructions
- Add a layer of silver foil to your air fryer basket. Place leftover spaghetti bolognese into your air fryer basket. Air fry for 8 minutes at 180c/360f. If you want to add extra cheese do so for the last 2 minutes of cooking.
- Alternatively, place 2 cups of water (480ml) into your Ninja Foodi cooking pot. Add your trivet and load your air fryer baking pan with leftover spaghetti Bolognese. Place it onto the trivet, add the pressure cooker lid, set the valve to sealing and cook for 2 minutes. When it beeps do a quick pressure release, stir, and serve.
I reheat my cold leftover spaghetti in a cast iron pan with a little oil. Delicious!
I love the reheated stuff in the air fryer you are doing, your steps really help me to get my head around the air fryer so thank you for giving me confidence.
Great stuff the air fryer is seriously taking over from my microwave for reheating leftovers and this tasted great, thanks for the help.
I love reheated pasta and your timings are the best i have come across. It tasted delicious with the extra crunch.
