Pancakes In Air Fryer
I have not done one of my fun air fryer experiments for a while. We like to experiment with new air fryer ideas so that you don’t have to.
And I had a pancake air fryer idea!
What if instead of some small pancakes I made a big one? Then made the pancake in the silicone mould instead of a traditional air fryer baking pan or with parchment paper.
It would be like an air fryer pancake cake and would taste just like a pancake but would make a bigger one so I didn’t need to keep making lots of pancakes.
I would then try them in the baking pan of the air fryer as well, to see how everything compared.

Can You Make Pancakes In An Air Fryer?
Yes, you can make pancakes in an air fryer and you will love them. You can use either your own pancake batter, make smaller ones if you want crepes, make a big pancake cake, or make traditional pancakes the air fryer way.
Do You Have To Use Parchment Paper In An Air Fryer?
No, you don’t have to use parchment paper in the air fryer. I can’t believe I am saying this (after 10 years of air frying) but I have tried parchment paper once in the air fryer and didn’t like it.
I much prefer to use foil in the air fryer instead, silicone or other containers such as ramekins.
Air Fryer And Pancake Mix
I recommend anyone that is new to the air fryer to start with frozen food. This is because you can then focus on learning the time and temps of the air fryer rather than worrying about making the food as well.
I feel that same method can apply to box mixes too.
If you are new to the air fryer and making pancakes, I recommend that you start with a batch of pancake mix. Its much thicker than your own homemade pancake mix and it takes the stress out of the process and the kids can make the pancakes.
We used an air fryer pancake mix from Aldi and just needed to add in a couple of extra ingredients.
Air Fryer Pancake Pan
Now for the pancake pan that most people would use in the air fryer (and the start of our experiment) is this one:
We made a batch of homemade pancake batter and poured into one and then poured into a second pancake mix.
Here they are the air fried pancakes once cooked:
Note that they are overcooked a little as we get the cook times right but also notice that one has lost its puff on top. The one that looks best is the one made from pancake mix.
Then after removing them and having some air fried pancakes this is the dish.
As you can see, it needs a good soak and is not an easy air fryer pancake recipe.
Air Fryer Pancake Hack
But of course, I want to make your life easier with the air fryer, not harder. That is why I have an air fryer pancake hack.
Use silicone.
Simple as that.
Some large silicone in the air fryer is the best air fryer pancake hack ever.
So you saw the state of my air fryer pancake pan and now look at this:
Then it will barely stick, your pancakes will come out of the air fryer so much better and you will love the results.
Pancakes Air Fryer Ingredients
Mix – Start with a pancake mix or make your own pancake batter. I used a box mix from Aldi and it was much better than I thought it would be.
Milk – You will need milk to add to the dry pancake mix to make your pancake batter. If you want creamier and more fluffy pancakes opt for full cream milk.
Extras – I also love to add in cinnamon and vanilla to my mix.
Sauce – Then don’t forget about the sauce or syrups that you want over your pancakes. Jorge and Sofia both chose the chocolate sauce and the toffee sauce from M&S.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in these pancakes in the air fryer recipe it has just been our Philips Air Fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.
Plus, we recommend you head over to our air fryer recipes category as we have more than 500 tried and tested air fryer recipes and have been air frying for 10 years.
How To Make Pancakes In Air Fryer?
- Load. Plug in your hand mixer and then add your pancake mix and milk into the bowl. Mix until you have a pancake batter.
- Extras. Next add in any extra flavours such as cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin spice etc.
- Cook. Load the batter into your silicone cake pans and then place the silicone pan in the air fryer basket. Cook for 8 minutes.
And I am sure you can see now how easy it is to air fry pancakes and why it has become one of my favourite air fryer breakfasts for the kids.
How Long To Cook Pancakes In Air Fryer?
These air fryer pancakes took JUST 8 minutes to cook in the air fryer. You will have noticed (as mentioned above) that our first lot of pancakes were overcooked.
The reason that happened is we experimented with a preheat.
Took off the preheat on the next batch and the cook time was spot on.
You know now, that for cooking air fryer pancakes, you don’t need a preheat.
Air Fryer Temp For Pancakes
The recommended air fryer temperature for pancakes is 180c/360f. I did experiment with a higher temperature but found they went brown on top too fast and didn’t cook in the middle properly.
The Air Fryer Frozen Food Cookbook
Did you know we have a very popular air fryer frozen food cookbook? It helps you simplify cooking with the air fryer and is filled with air fryer frozen food classics.
Including air fryer frozen mozzarella sticks, air fryer frozen French fries, air fryer frozen chicken nuggets, air fryer frozen onion rings and many others.

Hi! Needed to ask, with the silicone is there no need at all to oil the silicone? I’ve not purchased any silicone pans for my air fryer yet but this is convincing me!
Hi Stephanie,
We have not used any oil when we have used silicone in the air fryer, nothing has ever stuck like in proper tins, just cool the silicone down slightly before removing the food from it, this always helps it to come away clean 🙂
I am glad you provided instructions as i struggle with anything on the side of a packet as the writing is so small. Mine turned out good and i added some cream and jam on mine.
