Air Fryer Breaded Mushrooms
This is an update of our air fryer frozen breaded mushrooms that we originally published back in February 2019. Here is what I had to say back then:
If you are following our weekends of frozen food in the air fryer, then you will have had some fantastic treats so far.
We had air fryer frozen sweet potato fries last Saturday, air fryer frozen sweet potato wedges last Sunday and today it is the turn of air fryer frozen breaded mushrooms.
We we’re recently recipe testing some mushrooms for an Instant Pot Pressure Cooker recipe (it was our Instant Pot pork chops with mushroom gravy) and Dominic being the mushroom fan in our house, pointed out that we had never done breaded mushrooms in the air fryer and it was a must.
Dominic used to work as a chef in the pubs in England and breaded mushrooms was a regular thing on the menu.
It was one of those side dishes that you often had as a starter or as a side dish with some steak. Nearly always it came with some tomato ketchup.
I am sure he probably had a few breaded mushrooms when he was supposed to be working, after all the free food was always the biggest perk of the job.
Can You Cook Frozen Breaded Mushrooms In An Air Fryer?
Absolutely and air fryer frozen mushrooms are delicious. They are ideal for throwing a bag of frozen breaded (or battered) mushrooms in the air fryer, while you cook something else in your instant pot.
Or you can load frozen mushrooms with other favourite appetizers for that perfect Saturday night in!
Why Air Fryer Frozen Breaded Mushrooms
I often see suggestions for cooking breaded mushrooms in the oven. But there is a big problem there and that is that they are often soggy and dry.
The oven steals any moisture and they never have that lovely pub crispy texture.
Plan B is always to deep fry your frozen breaded mushrooms. Of course, they taste amazing like this, but seriously how bad is that for you? But the air fryer is like being hypnotised.
You think they have been deep fried as they taste that good, but really, they have been air fried which is the same in calories as being oven baked.
Or as I like to put it its like eating fries for the same calories as a jacket potato!
Air Fryer Frozen Breaded Mushroom Brands
We used the brand Iceland for our frozen breaded mushrooms. It is part of their American style range and gives you a 280g bag of breaded mushrooms.
My first thought was how small the bag of frozen mushrooms was for the money. But when you consider that breaded mushrooms are quite big, then you realise you are getting quite a lot to put in the air fryer.
We found that from brand to brand they are very similar. So, if you have a different brand of frozen breaded mushrooms then don’t worry, simply follow the instructions below as they are universal for all brands.
Air Frying Mushrooms
There are a few different ways that you can air fry frozen mushrooms and it depends on personal preference.
Frozen mushrooms in air fryer is rather a broad term and you can do it many ways. You can be reheating from frozen stuffed mushrooms, cooking frozen blanched mushrooms, or cooking mushrooms that are breaded or battered.
The healthier keto version that my readers LOVE is when you air fry from frozen basic mushrooms. You then add garlic butter, and you have a wonderful side vegetable for dinner. The smell of the garlic butter will fill your kitchen.

Oh man, pre-frozen breaded mushrooms? How lucky!
They were lovely i must admit 🙂
Best starter ever and so easy to cook, the air fryer has changed the way frozen food tastes and it cooks them so quickly, i served mine with some mayo and ketchup the kids had some BBQ sauce yummy.
Great appetizer for a quick get together snack. You know when friends just give you a quick ring and say fancy a drink tonight i will bring the wine you bring the food then these are perfect for that.
Great. I only had to scroll down for 10 minutes to find the proper temp and heat setting.
Thank you for your comment. After the page loads straight away just underneath the title you will see the word JUMP TO RECIPE if you click this guess what? It takes you straight to the recipe thus you not having to scroll down for 10 minutes.
Happy holidays 🙂
I agree with gabe, I had to read through 10 min of a way too drawn out stupid little story before I got to the recipe, which was about as vague as Bill Clinton’s explanation of his affair with Monica Lewinsky!! The author just drones on and on!!!!
Thanks for the feedback. Again we have a JUMP TO RECIPE Button at the top of the article so just push the button which is on every recipe and it will take you past all the important info and land you on the recipe 🙂
Not sure why but mine came out soggy. Not sure what I did wrong. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.
Sometimes this can happen, there could be many reasons. Your air fryer might not be hot enough, the mushroom size of yours could be bigger than the ones we were using, the mushrooms you used might be carrying a lot of water. There is so many variables as to why mushrooms can turn out soggy 🙂
Mine were battered not breaded. I cooked than at 200 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes. Crisp right up
What’s the temp setting for feringheit and time? I tried 360 for 7 minutes and got yucky soggy watery mushrooms. Wished I would have used the oven.
The time and temp says it is 360f for 10 minutes depending on the size of the mushrooms. The time and temp we used worked great for our mushrooms and depends on the air fryer used if it goes up to 400f you can cook on 360f for 5 minutes then turn up to 400f for another 5 minutes and see if the mushrooms are crispy 🙂
f##k your advertising
get to the f##king point you f##king a##hole
whts the f##king temp and time
You my friend are the select few people who i will decide to answer as we just ignore your abusive and dam right nasty comments, but alas congratulations you have my attention with your intelligent argument. Firstly we have never met you and i feel you would not say this to our faces. My advertising, not quite but do you send these messages to every company on the web and on TV as they have advertising. We got to the point, you just missed it.
The time and temp are in the recipe card and if you can read right at the top of every recipe post you will see in red bolded text jump to recipe this then takes you straight to the recipe in a matter of seconds, do not blame me for you missing essential text, just because you wanted your mushrooms.
Now finally please it is stated TIME AND TEMP not TEMP AND TIME this is really irritating, also are you permanently angry? 🙂
