Air Fryer Cheeseburgers
Welcome to our air fryer cheeseburger recipe.
We all have our guilty pleasures that we refuse to admit to, or only admit to if we are forced. For us, an addiction to the British takeaway must be one of those things.
It was just something that we always had and always wasted way too much money on. Between 2000-2008 we must have had about 800 of them if not more.
It started off when we first moved in together and we would go to the takeaway on the way home from a night dancing.
Because we were dancing, we never really had a big weight gain as we were burning the calories.
But as the years passed, we did pile on the pounds and it was made worse when we moved for university and the lure of the cheap student deals took over our universe.
Dominic would always have a double cheeseburger, a single chicken burger, fries, and some of my garlic bread.
Whilst I would have garlic bread with cheese and some fries and probably onion rings too.
This would probably cost us close to £20 and was a total waste of money when we hardly had any.
I just wish there were air fryers back then so that we could make a homemade air fryer cheeseburger with a lot less guilt.
The double cheeseburger was always Dominic’s thing as I was always a doner kebab or a deep pan pizza girl myself. It always looked horrible with lots of saturated fat, way too much unhealthy cheese and like a typical diet hater he always ordered it without salad.
Back in 2016 I set Dominic to work with a challenge of creating a delicious double cheeseburger at home and it was the most delicious cheeseburger I had ever tried.
It didn’t have that saturated fat feeling that his usual greasy takeaways had, and the burger patties were smaller.
Instead of two HUGE burger patties two smaller ones were loaded into the air fryer and OMG I can not believe all these years later how good it is.
When he is cooking lunch for us in the air fryer, I will often request his air fryer cheeseburgers.
Served with air fryer sweet potato fries they are delicious and a lunch worth waiting for.
As its been a while since it was written and because I like taking photos of delicious air fryer cheeseburgers, we have updated it for the summer of 2020 for you.
Cooking Burgers In An Air Fryer
Well it should be as air fryer burgers are utterly amazing when cooked in the air fryer.
A bit like if you cooked burgers on a grill, they are a healthier alternative that carries less saturated fat and does not have that greasy feeling.
The fat goes into the bottom of the air fryer and you feel like you are eating a much leaner burger patty.
Cheeseburger In Air Fryer
You use your favourite bowl to mix your burger patty ingredients.
But instead you load the burger patty with soft cheese before cooking your cheeseburgers.
They are then loaded with sliced cheese so that you can have lots of melted cheese on top before you add garnish to your burger.
It is delicious and Dominic’s air fryer cheeseburgers are PERFECT every single time.

Well you cannot take the chef out of Dominic and he goes the extra mile making sure your air fryer cheeseburger is the best one you have ever had.
He does this by layering the cheeseburger with mayonnaise, cheese and spreading butter on the burger bun.
To make an air fryer cheeseburger like Dominic follow these layers:
- Spread your burger bun with butter
- Add a cheese slice to the bottom
- Add mayonnaise
- Add your cooked burger patties
- Add cheese slice
- Add a final layer of mayonnaise
Air Fryer Bacon Cheeseburger
If you would like to transform your air fryer cheeseburgers into air fryer bacon cheeseburgers, then I recommend cooking a slice of bacon as you prep your burger patty.
Cook the bacon in the air fryer for 3 minutes at 180c/360f. Then add it back to the cheeseburger when you are melting your layer of cheese on top of the burger. So yummy!
How Long To Cook Burgers In Air Fryer?
Cooking burgers in the air fryer does not take that long. In fact, when we made our air fryer cheeseburgers, we cooked our burger patties for a total of 13 minutes.
This included a 12 minute cook, followed by an extra 1 minute to melt the cheese.
Air Fryer Burger Temp?
The best temperature for air fryer cheeseburgers is 180c/360f. This provides the air fryer with a medium heat and cooks the cheeseburgers through without worrying that they are overcooked.
