Microwave Butternut Squash
I have been a HUGE butternut squash fan for many, many years. After having it for the first time on Fathers Day in 2008 as a butternut squash soup when we were eating out.
I love to cook a whole butternut squash in the slow cooker, do the same with instant pot butternut squash, cook instant pot butternut squash cubes, air fryer butternut squash cubes, and let’s not forget about yummy soup maker butternut squash soup.
But what they all have in common is that butternut squash is often so time consuming.
You spend ages slicing it, not knowing if the seeds are going to be huge in the centre.
Then you wait an eternity for the butternut squash to be cooked through.
Then you finally get to enjoy your yummy butternut squash.
Well, as part of our microwave month on Recipe This, I wanted to see how microwave butternut squash compares to the air fryer, instant pot, soup maker and slow cooker.

Microwave Butternut Squash Before Roasting
One of the best uses of the microwave is to use the microwave to do a part cook on your butternut squash before you load it into the air fryer for roasting.
It really speeds up the process.
You would simply cook your butternut squash in the microwave for 5 minutes instead of 7, then toss in some extra virgin olive oil and load into the air fryer for 5 minutes.
That means that instead of roasting butternut squash for ages in the oven, you can do it in 10 minutes via the air fryer and the microwave.

If you are making microwave squash for your baby, then I recommend that you increase the cook time by an extra 5 minutes.
