Pasta In Instant Pot
The first time we ever had pasta in the instant pot, we were on holiday travelling around Europe with our Instant Pot.
We were in France. We had no fridge and I made do with mainly canned and long-life food because it was hot and couldn’t carry about with me much fresh.
I had dried spaghetti, an onion and some garlic that needed using up and plenty of extra virgin olive oil. I was just craving something simple with spaghetti. So went to the campsite bar where we were staying, ordered a glass of wine. Then made spaghetti pasta with the garlic and white wine and it was delicious.
It started my love for instant pot pasta. Though when we made the spaghetti it was just using the sauté function.
This method for pasta in instant pot is even better, because we are pressure cooking the pasta, and its all about the perfect water/pasta ratio. Then there is no draining, you just have pasta ready for dinner.

Can You Cook Pasta In An Instant Pot?
Yes, you can cook pasta in an instant pot. You could use the sauté setting, like you would if you were cooking pasta in a wok or a frying pan, you can also pressure cook pasta which is similar to boiling pasta.
Can You Cook Noodles In An Instant Pot?
Yes, you can cook noodles in an instant pot. But note with noodles, because they are much thinner than pasta, you are better off sauteing them using the sauté function, and just pressure-cooking pasta or rice instead.
How Do You Keep Pasta From Burning In Instant Pot?
Some instant pots can display the “burn” warning a lot more than others do. I think in my 8 years with an instant pot, I have only had this happen a couple of times. Mainly when I have been sauteing, forgotten about it, and gone to answer the phone. If you do have an instant pot that does this frequently, I recommend you sauté with an onion first with some coconut oil. This will create a non-stick coating to your instant pot before adding the pasta.
How Do You Keep Pasta From Sticking To The Instant Pot?
For us, we find the best way to stop pasta from sticking to the instant pot, is a little extra olive oil, before cooking the pasta and making sure you have added enough water, and also that you have given it a very good stir before you have brought it to pressure.
How Much Water For Pasta In Instant Pot?
When you are cooking pasta in the instant pot, what you are really doing is boiling pasta in instant pot. You are adding pasta and water, then sending the instant pot to pressure. So, because I have been doing this for so long, I never count (unless I am making a recipe for you) of how much water for pasta in the instant pot.
If you have a look at the photo, you will see its approximately enough water to be 1cm over the pasta.

Pasta Instant Pot Ingredients
Pasta – You can use any dried pasta in this recipe, other than ones from the spaghetti family. Think about bags of pasta shapes, instant pot bow tie pasta is another option.
Water – Cold water is fine for using in your pressure cooker pasta. Though instant pot pasta water ratio is pasta in grams, doubled in millilitres. So if you are using 250g of pasta, then this would double becoming 500, then be 500ml. However, with this pressure cooked pasta we have used 500g of pasta shapes which would then become 1000ml or 1 litre. Or if you work with imperial that would be 18oz of pasta with just over 4 cups of water.
