Breaded Pork Chops In Air Fryer
After 13 years living in Portugal there will be a few foods that I am going to truly miss. The cheap pork chops are one of those foods.
They are just so cheap, that in an English or American butchers you would get 12 Portuguese pork chops to the equivalent of what you would normally pay for two.
We would buy them in large containers and then freeze them.
Then we could cook the pork chops in the air fryer whenever we wanted.
In today’s recipe for breaded pork chops in the air fryer, we are showing you our method for breading a couple of these pork chops. You can recreate at home with any type of pork chops from pork loin chops to thin cut pork chops.
If you want a quick and easy method for flavoursome air fryer breaded pork chops then this is it.
Plus, as well as our free newsletter, we also have a free air fryer mini course. It is ideal for air fryer beginners or those that want to get more confident with their air fryer. The free course runs for 5 days with a new lesson delivered each day to your inbox.
Can You Cook Pork Chops In An Air Fryer?
Yes, you can, and you will be amazed at how good pork chops are when air fried. I remember when I first started cooking, I would overcook the pork chops on the grill and they were often tough.
But years later, I realised the reason the grill version was bad, is because they were cooked at too high a heat for too long.
Thanks to the wonderful capabilities of the air fryer, you can choose the correct temperature and not worry that they will be overdone.
Breaded Bone In Pork Chops In Air Fryer
We are also using bone in pork chops. If you have not done so already, breaded bone in pork chops is amazing in the air fryer.
Plus, I often find that bone in pork chops is much cheaper to purchase.
If you are wondering how breaded bone in pork chops differ to boneless, then note they just need a slightly longer cook time to make up for the bone. Plus, I find they are more flavoursome thanks to the bone.
Old Fashioned Breaded Pork Chops
I am a big fan of the old fashioned cookbooks and note in many old school cookbooks it is all about using just butter and breadcrumbs and shallow frying them.
But of course, today it’s a recipe for breaded pork chops in an air fryer and the recipe is somewhat different.
That is because we are air frying therefore, we are saving calories and we are swapping the butter and oil for a small coating of flour.
But what does remain from old fashioned breaded pork chops is that they are soaked in apple juice first. This adds great flavour and also makes the pork chops even more tender ahead of air frying them.

Air Fried Breaded Pork Chops Ingredients
Chops – You can use any pork chops in this recipe. For the best air fryer pork chops I recommend bone in thawed pork chops. You can also use veal chops, boneless pork chops, or thin cut pork chops.
Panko – You can use any type of breadcrumbs for your breaded air fryer pork chops, though we used panko. Note that when you use panko it is a dryer breadcrumb, and you need to make sure you have a good layer of egg otherwise you will have dry pork chops.
Egg. I recommend creating a production line with one bowl with your breadcrumbs, one with your egg and another with your flour. The egg can be any and I usually crack four eggs in a bowl, whisk them with a fork and then add in a little seasoning to make them more flavoursome.
Flour. I love air fryer pork chops with flour, and it provides a wonderful coating on the pork chops and helps prevent them from being dry. You can use any flour and then season it too.
Seasoning – You can mix and match your seasonings in this air fryer spam recipe. I love salt, pepper, and parsley, but it’s all about personal choice. You can also season your breadcrumbs, egg, and flour for the ultimate taste sensation.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this breaded pork chops air fryer recipe, it has just been our Philips Air Fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer breaded recipes and doesn’t stick to the air fryer.
How To Make Breaded Pork Chops In Air Fryer?
- Soak. Start by soaking your pork chops in apple juice. This will create a delicious flavour and help make your pork chops even more tender. Then pat dry the pork chops prior to breading.
- Toss. Load your pork chops into the flour, the egg, then the breadcrumbs. Make sure it gets a good coating from each bowl.
- Load. Add to the air fryer and air fry until you have tender yet crispy breaded pork chops.
How Long To Cook Pork Chops In The Air Fryer?
Breaded pork chops in the air fryer take JUST 12 minutes to cook. They are not the thickest of pork chops and thanks to the speed of the air fryer, 12 minutes is all it takes.
Then for thick cut pork chops, you can achieve perfectly crispy breaded pork chops in 15 minutes.
What To Serve With Your Air Fryer Pork Chops?
I recommend that you serve our pork chops with air fryer asparagus as it is delicious and adds a lovely colour to your dinner plate.
Another of our favourites is air fryer baby potatoes. They are so easy to cook in the air fryer and you could cook them first whilst you are prepping your pork chops.

My wife made Air Fryer pork chops last night and I must say they were the best chops I’ve ever had! They were crispy on the outside & juicy on the inside! Thanks Sam 🙂
What’s the purpose of the apple juice in the egg? I’ve never heard of this.
Hi Deanna,
Mainly for flavour as apple goes really well with the pork and also to stop the pork drying to much whilst cooking 🙂
Hope this helps!
Do you use fresh bread and just blend it or stale bread?
Hi Shannon,
We used fresh bread the crusty bits around the edges we found was best and does the best breadcrumbs. But also if we have alot of fresh bread left over we leave it out and let it go hard and then blend them and freeze them for another time 🙂
Thanks.
These turned out amazing!!!!
We used smaller boneless chops but they worked just the same, cooked them for 20 mins cause they were thinker.
Really glad you liked the recipe Lija 🙂
What if I don’t have apple juice?
We’re seniors and don’t purchase these kind of items ?
We do have prune juice, just kidding ?. We like 100% cranberry juice and Welches 100% grape juice. No orange juice.
I really appreciate the way you break down the cost of the meals! These look so yummy 🙂
Pork chops are my favourite! I love how juicy yours are.
That sounds delicious, I love pork chops although I have to say I never trim the fat, it is where all of the flavour is 😉
Love the pork chops recipe in the air fryer.
