Frozen Eclairs
If there is one food of France that I can not get enough of it is chocolate eclairs. I have many fond memories of being in France and tucking into a delicious chocolate รฉclair from the local supermarket.
I even remember Jorge having his first ever รฉclair whilst we were on holiday at a beautiful campsite in the west of France.
But most people find eclairs so difficult to make and because they are time consuming, frozen eclairs are often the better backup plan.
Even better, you can grab some frozen chocolate eclairs from you freezer, load them into the air fryer and use the air fryer to defrost and warm through your chocolate eclairs.
Itโs like a taste of France but without the effort. And perfect for party season.

What Is An รclair?
An รฉclair or a chocolate รฉclair, is a delicious French pastry that is made with choux pastry and filled with cream and topped in chocolate icing.
The chocolate รฉclair dough is also the same dough that we use in our air fryer profiteroles.
How Do You Defrost Chocolate Eclairs?
The best way to defrost your chocolate eclairs is to use the air fryer. The air fryer is fantastic at a low heat and in our house, we use the air fryer a lot for defrosting and reheating food.
But its important that you use a low temperature because you donโt want to melt the chocolate icing and for your chocolate eclairs to look ugly.
How Do You Crisp Eclairs?
You can crisp your eclairs with the air fryer. When you originally cook your chocolate eclairs (before adding the chocolate) you can perfectly crisp the eclairs.
Then with chocolate icing on your eclairs you can use the air fryer to warm them up and return them to original crispness.
Mini Eclairs
If it is party season (isnโt that all the time with the air fryer?) then mini eclairs cooked from frozen are ideal.
I love the mini chocolate eclairs from Aldi. But of course, Asda, Iceland and M&S also do fantastic mini eclairs too.
Plus, with the frozen mini chocolate eclairs, they are perfect size for the air fryer and if you are doing a big buffet, the mini eclairs can be part of your batch reheating in the air fryer.
You could also do air fryer frozen sausage rolls, air fryer frozen party pies, air fryer frozen onion bhajis and so much more.
Chocolate รclair Recipe Ingredients
Eclairs โ I recommend one box only of the frozen mini chocolate eclairs from Aldi. You want a single layer of chocolate eclairs and donโt want the air fryer overfull or eclairs on top of each other. But you can do your eclairs in batches if you have a lot more to defrost.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this air fryer frozen mini chocolate eclairs recipe it has just been our Philips Air Fryer XL. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.
Plus, we recommend you head over to our air fryer recipes category as we have more than 500 tried and tested air fryer recipes and have been air frying for 10 years.
How Do You Reheat Eclairs In Air Fryer?
- Load. Remove your frozen eclairs from its packaging and add it to the air fryer basket. Make sure they are sat up so that the chocolate is not underneath otherwise the chocolate icing will melt off.
- Cook. Air fry your frozen mini eclairs for 4 minutes at 160c/320f before reducing the temperature to 140c/280f and cooking for a further 2 minutes.
- Serve. Dish onto a serving dish and tuck in. Or if serving later, fridge until you are ready to serve.
And I am sure you can see now how easy it is cooking frozen eclairs in air fryer and why it has become one of my favourite frozen foods.
How Long Do Mini Eclairs Take To Defrost?
Frozen chocolate mini eclairs take JUST 6 minutes to defrost in the air fryer. This ensures that they are fully defrosted in the centre and avoids the chocolate icing from melting everywhere.
Plus, its much quicker than leaving chocolate eclairs on the side, which takes about 3 hours to defrost depending on the room temperature of your kitchen.
