Stromboli In Air Fryer

This stromboli in the air fryer kicks of leftover ham week on Recipe This. I am a huge leftover fan and love all the recipes I can make from leftover ham or leftover turkey during the festive period.

Growing up as a kid I never remember a big thing about leftovers. But as an adult I love them. Dominic will roll his eyes when I convert one tiny portion of leftover mac and cheese into a family meal.

When it comes to roast dinners though, I am always thinking about what delicious meal I can make with what is leftover.

One Christmas I made 17 leftover meals from one whole turkey. They were delicious and filled the freezer and was the first time I did freezer meals.

But back in 2017 when I originally shared how to make stromboli in the air fryer, there was a kitchen gadget missing. Back then we did not have a bread maker to make fast dough to use in our homemade stromboli.

Talk about a long cooking process before compared to how long to cook and prep a stromboli now.

What Is Stromboli?

A stromboli is similar to a calzone and is an Italian bread or pizza dough that is stuffed with cheese and cold meat cuts.

The cheese then melts as it cooks, and you have a delicious cheesy pizza alternative that is fantastic for leftovers.

Bread Machine Stromboli Dough

A traditional stromboli uses either pizza dough or pizza bread. Because we have a favourite bread maker pizza dough, we will be using that in this recipe.

Our bread machine stromboli dough takes JUST 23 minutes to prep in the bread maker and you can load all the ingredients in together.

Then while your bread machine works its magic you can be planning fillings.

We are loading our stromboli with leftover ham and grated cheese. Though you could add in more meat and of course more cheese. After all, pizza dough is meant for as much cheese as it can handle!

Or if you have another leftover meat such as leftover turkey, that works exceptionally well too.

Air Fryer Pizza Stromboli

I like to think of a stromboli as a pizza. Use the types of cheeses you would with a pizza. I.e. those that melt well and those that make a pizza taste oh so good.

Mozzarella cheese works best but you can also use cheddar or any pizza cheese.

How Long To Cook Stromboli In Air Fryer?

The cook time for air fryer stromboli is JUST 12 minutes. Note that our stromboli is rather big and that a smaller stromboli or one cut into slices would have a shorter cook time.

How To Reheat Stromboli In Air Fryer?

Notes

Note that your air fryer might be smaller than ours and keep the length of the stromboli within the max length that your air fryer can handle.
A traditional stromboli doesn’t have pizza sauce, but because you are air frying it works better as the air fryer otherwise can make it a little dry.
