Can You Cook Frozen Wings In Instant Pot?

Yes you can. Cooking frozen wings in the instant pot is Amazing. You can load a lot more frozen chicken wings into an instant pot, than you can with an air fryer and the cook time is not too long either.

Frozen Chicken Wings In Instant Pot

What I love about frozen chicken wings in the instant pot is that its like working from a blank canvas and you can make your favourite type of chicken wings.

  • Instant Pot Frozen Chicken Wings No Sauce – You don’t have to have sauce on your frozen chicken wings if you don’t want to. Because they are incredibly tender thanks to the pressure cooker, they could be served with just salt and pepper.
  • Instant Pot Frozen Barbecue Chicken Wings – Alternatively you can toss your favourite barbecue sauce in your chicken wings or cook your frozen wings in the barbecue sauce.
  • Instant Pot Frozen Buffalo Chicken Wings – You can swap barbecue sauce for buffalo sauce and have yourself a batch of buffalo chicken wings.
  • Instant Pot Frozen Honey Garlic Chicken Wings – My all time favourite is honey garlic chicken wings for a classic Mediterranean flavour.
  • Instant Pot Frozen Chicken Wings Dry Rub – Or if you prefer a dry rub then toss your cooked chicken wings in your favourite dry rub. Just go to the kitchen pantry and choose your favourite.
  • Instant Pot Frozen Chicken Wings Keto – Or if you follow Keto you can make chicken wings using a keto friendly dry rub or sauce.

Or just go with any sauce that you like. For example we often do sweet chili flavoured chicken wings:

How To Instant Pot Frozen Chicken Wings?

instant pot frozen chicken wings step by step

Cooking instant pot frozen chicken wings is EASY:

  1. Remove packaging from your chicken wings.
  2. Place your steamer basket into the instant pot.
  3. Add lots of frozen chicken wings.
  4. Pour over 2 cups of water or stock.
  5. Place the lid on the instant pot + cook.
  6. Quickly release pressure + you have cooked chicken wings.
  7. Load your chicken with seasonings + add your air fryer lid.
  8. Crisp and serve.

Instant Pot Frozen Chicken Wings Cook Time?

The instant pot frozen chicken wings cook time is JUST 25 minutes. Plus an additional 12 minutes to make your chicken wings crispy with an air fryer lid.

You could do instant pot frozen wings in less time if your wings were smaller. But we had a mix of big and medium chicken wings and wanted to assure they were fully cooked.

Instant Pot Crispy Chicken Wings From Frozen

My favourite part is using the Crisplid to make yummy crispy wings. When I first made chicken wings in the instant pot there was no crisplid.

Instead, you moved your chicken wings to the air fryer and let the air fryer work its magic. But make chicken wings in the instant pot right now, you can do it all from within your instant pot.

Sprinkle your dry rub or spoon your wet rub over your just cooked chicken wings, load the lid on the instant pot and watch it do its business.

Notes

You can use any brand of chicken wings. We used some from our local supermarket.
Mix and match with your favourite seasonings and rubs. But make sure if using the crisplid that some moisture is added to stop making them go dry. This can be olive oil or another oil, or a preferred wing sauce.

    1. Hi Debbie,

We have only used the Mealthy crisp lid, but if you live outside the US or Canada then you will not be able to get it. We would recommend the Instant Pot crisp lid which is available in most places. Here is a link to the Instant Pot website:

We are obliged to tell you the above is not an affiliate link it is just for information for you 🙂

Should you only crisp up a few at a time or the whole basket full at once?
Also could you cook up the whole bunch and refrigerate some to crisp up at a later time?
    Thanks

    1. Hi Sally,

Yes you can crisp up just a few at a time if using the air fryer lid but if using a large air fryer then you should be able to crisp the whole portion 🙂

Yes you could refrigerate some and crisp up for later, that is a really good idea 🙂

    1. Hi Rachel,

We have the Mealthy crisplid and you can set it by pressing the temp button then pressing the + and it goes up to 260c.

      Hope this helps 🙂

Omg this is really very nice. So appetizing. The meat just “slide” away from the bone so easily. Super yummy and easy.

These are so easy and absolutely fabulous. My husband who “doesn’t like wings” and “needs a sauce” with everything loved them.
Also loved the tip about the crisplid. Thank you x
