Instant Pot Salmon Broccoli And Potatoes. Salmon, broccoli and potatoes cooked perfectly in the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker in just 4 minutes. The ultimate quick Instant Pot healthy lunch or dinner.
Instant Pot Salmon, Broccoli & Potatoes was one of our first recipes in the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker. Originally cooked in late 2016 and published in early 2017, it has become a readers favourite. We decided to take a trip down memory lane and update our Instant Pot Salmon and Broccoli for you today.
Instant Pot Salmon Broccoli & Potatoes
Instant Pot Salmon Broccoli & Potatoes was the fourth recipe in a sequence of showing people how to steam healthy food in the Instant Pot.
Firstly, we shared with you Instant Pot Broccoli, then Instant Pot Salmon & Broccoli and then third on the list was Instant Pot New Potatoes, it all led up to sharing with you this recipe for Instant Pot Salmon, Broccoli + Potatoes and how easy it is for newbies with their electric pressure cookers.
In my mind they very much fall under the idea of the perfect lunch.
But Dominic thought I was crazy for wanting to put them altogether in the Instant Pot at once because they were just not meant to be shoved in the Instant Pot together but I like to challenge his skills.
So, this is probably the recipe that he has probably worked at for the longest.
This of course has been good for me though, as I ended up with a huge amount of tester salmon and potatoes to eat, not to mention vast portions of broccoli to go at.
Well you can’t say my diet is not balanced after this!
This final part of the recipe though, is to show you that with some clever thinking that you can make your steamed lunch all in one steamer basket without thinking about it as that typical dump meal.
This meal would never be a dump meal in the normal sense but here you have it and it is cooked so quick too.

Instant Pot Recipes – The Outtakes
For a bit of fun this is what we said about making salmon, broccoli and potatoes in the Instant Pot, after the first time doing so back in late 2016.
The problem with being married to a chef is that they take everything seriously and are brought up on making everything from manual devices and don’t really get into the kitchen gadget craze.
When I ask Dominic to do the second recipe again but to add potatoes, he thinks I need shipping off to the funny farm.
I mention it’s about completing the recipe, but I don’t think he gets me.
He tells me that it can’t be done, and I tell him to make it happen!
Thankfully he listens to me as I have the most delicious salmon, broccoli and potatoes for my trouble ????
How Long To Instant Pot Salmon?
Instant Pot Salmon falls under the 4 minute rule. You steam your salmon in the Instant Pot for 2 minutes with your favourite vegetables and potatoes and then allow it to complete natural pressure release for a further 2 minutes.
This brings your cooking time to just 4 minutes for delicious Instant Pot Salmon!
Instant Pot Salmon Dinner
Though what I am cooking here today is a full Instant Pot Salmon Dinner. You’re cooking not only Instant Pot Salmon, but Instant Pot potatoes and vegetables to go with it.
Because it is such an easy cooking process you can easily recreate your Instant Pot Salmon Dinner at home. You can also swap it for your favourite vegetables and potatoes.
For example, if you want Instant Pot Salmon on Paleo you could use sweet potatoes or cubed butternut squash or pumpkin.
Instant Pot Steamer Baskets
Best of all I love using my Instant Pot Steamer Baskets. They are our most used Instant Pot Accessory and I couldn’t imagine not using them.
You can place your salmon, broccoli and potatoes into your steamer basket, lower it into the Instant Pot and it will steam your food for you. Whether this is for steaming salmon or for something else it does the trick.

Delicious! Don’t cut the broccoli too small. For the person who wanted the salmon browned, get Mealthy’s new CrispLid. Makes wonderful, crispy food with only a tablespoon of oil, too.
Thank you Jeanie, really glad you enjoyed the meal 🙂
It is more like 1/2 an hour with all all the waiting periods.
Can I increase the amounts to serve and still have it work in the Insta pot?
Hi LuAnn,
Yes you can. The Instant pot with it been a pressure cooker will cook the same amount of food exactly the same times no matter what the quantities. If you click the servings number you will see a slider and it will automatically change the amounts for you.
Kind Regards
Sam

Is the time still the same if the salmon is frozen?
Hi Nam,
I would just do a natural release from the valve instead of a quick release and that should be fine for frozen salmon.
Thanks.
Sam
Please share about the hypnotic gastric band.
Hi Patricia ,
This is the hypnotic gastric band that we followed in 2013 and still follow now. It basically teaches you to eat a lot less without major surgery and is the brain child of Paul McKenna. Have a more detailed look here: Paul Mckenna
Kind regards

In your salmon, potatoes and broccoli recipe you refer to the steaming rack. What rack do you use?
Hi Candy
This is the steaming basket that we use Steaming Basket. It is an affiliate link for Amazon and we find it really good. Also on the 11th June we have a blog post dedicated to steaming in the Instant Pot so you might get some more ideas from it when it goes live 🙂
Thanks
Sam & Dom
Hi, that link takes me to a mug?
I too am interested in seeing which steaming basket you used, as my broccoli turned out too soft.
Thanks
Hi Matt
This is what is supposed to be there:

This is the steaming basket we use and fits in the 6 quart Instant pot which we have. If the broccoli turns out too soft for you just reduce the time by a couple of minutes and it should be alot firmer.
Many Thanks

Would it be possible to get the amounts of all ingredients in USA measurements as well please? I have no idea how to convert them into ounces etc.
Hi Linda,
We are currently working on getting the conversions done and uploaded onto RecipeThis.com. We expect a converter to be on the site within the next month or so. In the meantime if you Google 100g = ounce (or whatever the gram amounts are) google will translate it for you, as that’s what we do when we visit a US food blog.
Kind regards
Sam

72g salmon? is that 2.6 ounces? seems like a small portion even for one person???
Hi Dee
Yes it is a small piece of salmon for most people. For us it is just fine as we are most of the time watching what we eat after losing a huge amount of weight and we do the hypnotic gastric band to help with our portion sizes. So if you are cooking a larger piece of salmon add more time on the keep warm mode after the cycle has finished.
Thanks.
Dom
Question: Do the potatos stay in the pot with the broccoli and salmon or are they removed beforehand?
Hi Paulaz
The potatoes stay in the pot when you add the salmon and broccoli and then should be fully cooked at the same time as the salmon and broccoli.
Thanks.
Sam
When is butter, salt, pepper and herbs are used? how did you brown the fish? Thanks!
Hi
Sorry for the late reply. I think we missed some info of off the recipe. I have added extra info. If you look at point 3 on the method and this is when you use your butter, S & P and herbs. Also to brown the fish after it is cooked you can heat up a frying pan with some butter or olive oil and just add the fish in top down for 2 minutes to get a good brown colour.
Regards
Dominic
