We originally shared with you how to make hot chocolate in the soup maker back in 2016 and we wanted to update it today for you with better photos and some extra ideas.

Best Hot Chocolate
I have been promising the kids, that as soon as it got colder, that I would make a big batch of hot chocolate in the soup maker and then they could binge on it all day.
The soup maker would keep it warm all day. They could then go back for a little more later on and even choose which marshmallows and which cream that they serve with their hot chocolate.
Then I underestimated how early it gets dark in England and they ended up waiting a few weeks, until I had time on the weekend to make the best hot chocolate for them.
As I grabbed the ingredients for making the hot chocolate, they chose their chocolate chips and their marshmallows and we created this awesome hot chocolate bar.
It was the best and I promised them, that I won’t make them wait as long next time.
You’re probably really sceptical with me talking about hot chocolate in the soup maker. But trust me, almost six years since first making hot chocolate this way, it’s the best, the easiest and perfect for the holidays.
Can Soup Makers Make Hot Chocolate?
Yes, they sure can. There is no actual hot chocolate setting on my soup maker, but what you can do instead is use the soup maker smooth soup setting.
Then after 10 minutes you can press cancel and after 10 minutes you will have perfect hot chocolate.
But there is another reason why this works so well and that is because of the way the Ninja smoothie soup works.
It blends and cooks, then blends and cooks.
Transformed into a hot chocolate machine, this means it will warm up your hot chocolate, then blend, then warm up and then blend.
Giving you a hot chocolate drink maker whenever you need it.
You could also do the same thing with other warm drinks in the soup maker.
Hot Chocolate With Condensed Milk
The secret ingredient that makes this the best hot chocolate recipe, is using a can of sweetened condensed milk.
It is so sweet and creamy at the same time, and you use this instead of evaporated milk, that is common in a lot of hot chocolate recipes.
It also means that because you are making hot chocolate with sweetened condensed milk, that you don’t need to add any extra sugar, because this is your sweetener.
Then combine condensed milk with cocoa powder and you have the easiest ever hot chocolate.
Of course, any combo will be fine. Though I am using Galaxy hot chocolate powder because I have loads in my pantry.
You could use Galaxy hot chocolate powder or go with Cadbury’s or another favourite of yours.
What Is The Best Way To Make Hot Chocolate?
I have made a lot of hot chocolate over the years. As a mum of three, it’s a treat that is in demand throughout the winter months.
I have made hot chocolate in the blender, in the soup maker, in the slow cooker, and the old school method on the stovetop.
Hands down the best way to make hot chocolate has always been the soup maker.
That is because its like the stovetop but the soup maker mixes and warms up the hot chocolate for you. Plus, it keeps it warm and then froths it up like Starbucks does.

Hot Chocolate For A Crowd
You can also use this hot chocolate recipe to feed a crowd. Without changing anything this recipe easily feeds five.
But its easy to add the ingredients back into the soup maker and cook again for 10 minutes for another batch of hot chocolate.
Hot Chocolate Ingredients
Cocoa – I prefer to use hot chocolate powder rather than traditional cocoa powder. Though you can switch it up with your favourite cocoa powder or chocolate powder. We are using Galaxy but I often use Cadbury’s.
Condensed Milk – We are using a can of condensed milk and then refilling it, to make sure we don’t miss any.
Cream – Also recommend adding in a little cream. This will really make your hot chocolate creamy like it is at Starbucks.
Milk – Then to balance it out, you need to add plenty of regular milk. You can use whole milk, semi skimmed or if using skimmed add less because it’s very thin.
Seasoning – Many prefer to add lots of cinnamon into their hot chocolate. I prefer to add some vanilla essence instead.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this hot chocolate recipe, it has just been our Ninja Soup Maker. We have this one and its wonderful for soup, as well as hot or cold drinks.
How To Make The Best Hot Chocolate?
- Dump. Add all ingredients into the soup maker.
- Mix. You want to give it a quick mix first and you can do this with a 1 minute pulse on the blender function.
- Cook. Once it is well mixed put it on the smooth soup setting for 10 minutes and then when you hit 10 minutes press cancel.
- Pour. Load your hot chocolate into mugs and top with cream and marshmallows.
