I love hummus and it reminds me of holidays as a teenager. We would hop on a plane at last minute in mid October and try somewhere different each time. On this occasion we were staying at a Greek Island and this was the dip that you got with everything. You would have warm crusty bread with it, carrot sticks or even as part of a salad.

It also became really popular in the late 90’s and you would go and buy some from the supermarket and it would make a fantastic alternative to mayonnaise and was a lot healthier.

But until now, I have never actually made it myself from scratch or shown that much interest in how it is made. It was having some at a barbeque recently that made me want to make it for myself once and for all.

Plus, there is no better way to make it than with a soup maker. You take away a lot of the hassle and it is a lot easier to clean than a food processor.

So here goes, creamy, garlic hummus with the help of the soup maker!

  • 1 Large Can Chickpeas
  • 1Tsp Garlic Puree
  • 1Tsp Olive Oil
  • 2Tsp Tahini Paste
  • 1 Lemon (juice and rind)
  • Salt & Pepper
I like a little garlic but if you like a lot add more. Also if you don’t like a lot of lemons add it a bit at a time and then keep tasting it until it suits your palate.
