Delicious air fryer Pumpkin. Let me show you how to roast pumpkin cubes in the air fryer. A fantastic seasonal treat and makes an amazing healthier alternative to roast potatoes.
You will love the simplicity of air fryer pumpkin and it’s a great way to use up your leftover pumpkin and also freezes well too.
This pumpkin air fryer recipe was originally shared with you back in 2020. We have since updated air fryers, gone pumpkin picking and made this recipe even better!
What do you do with your pumpkin? I am talking about when you buy too much pumpkin (I am so guilty of this) and need to use it up.
I go pumpkin buying like a kid goes into a sweet shop and here in the UK they are only available in the run up to Halloween and out of this time, you can’t get them.
So, I will buy, buy, buy as many pumpkins as I can and then I can freeze them, cook them in various dishes and freeze them and also keep some pumpkins cool in our utility until I want to cook them.
But I have found the easiest way to eat pumpkin and the easiest way to prep pumpkin for the freezer is pumpkin cubes.
You can peel and cut a whole pumpkin, and the slice into cubes. You can then blanch your pumpkin or cook and freeze.
I will also load these pumpkin cubes into a curry or use them in my soup maker curry sauce.
Today though, I wanted to show you the easiest ever method and that is to cube your pumpkin and roast the pumpkin in the air fryer. Then you can eat it straight away or allow it to cool and then freeze it.

Pumpkin Picking With The Kids
If in doubt about my pumpkin buying problem, here we are pumpkin picking for the first time with the kids.
It was a cold October Saturday morning, really windy, but we are on a mission to pick up our pumpkins from the field that we could cube ready for our kitchen gadgets.
We filled a wheelbarrow and then needed extra space and then went to the supermarket for more.
Plus, there were special orders put into the local farmers for other winter squash that is hard to get hold of in the UK.
Can You Air Fry Pumpkin?
Yes, you can, and air fried pumpkin is just like roasting pumpkin in the oven, just with a LOT LESS calories as a LOT LESS fat is involved.
Cubed pumpkin in the air fryer follows a similar method to air fryer roasted potatoes, air fryer sliced potatoes, or how we do air fryer sweet potato cubes.
The only difference is you need to be more gentle with air fried pumpkin because it holds a lot of water and can break and go mushy very easily.
How Can Pumpkins Be Cooked?
Pumpkin can be cooked in a variety of ways and is ideal for kitchen gadgets. You can cook pumpkin in the slow cooker, steamer, microwave, air fryer, thermomix, instant pot and soup maker.
This is because you can make soup, stews, casseroles with it, then it lends itself to the slow cooker, instant pot, soup maker and thermomix.
Then the instant pot for a quick blanch before freezing or for quickly steaming your pumpkin.
Or with the air fryer you can roast pumpkin like you would in the oven.
Is It Better To Steam Or Roast Pumpkin?
Like zucchini because of the water content in pumpkin, its much better to roast the pumpkin rather than steam it.
That doesn’t mean I don’t love instant pot pumpkin because I do, but because the air fryer produces a better result.
You toss your cubed pumpkin in extra virgin olive oil and season it. Then excess water from the pumpkin goes into the bottom of the air fryer and creates a better roast pumpkin recipe.

Pumpkin Air Fryer Ingredients
Pumpkin – You will want a batch of cubed pumpkin ready to go. I tend to get my lovely chef hubby to peel and quickly dice a large pumpkin and then I will have a big bowl of pumpkin to cook with in the fridge.
Oil – You will also need a small amount of extra virgin olive oil to toss the pumpkin in if you want a taste similar to roast pumpkin.
Seasonings – Then for seasoning, its often personal choice but I have gone with a Halloween theme and used salt, pepper, and cinnamon.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this pumpkin air fryer recipe it has just been our Cosori air fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.
Plus, we recommend you head over to our air fryer recipes category as we have more than 500 tried and tested air fryer recipes and have been air frying for 10 years.

Thank you for the recipe. Love the fact that it is zero oil as on WW and doing some zero point blue days and this is ideal.
I made both your pumpkin wedges and your pumpkin fries and loved both. Though i think the wedges will be my favourite as less effort.
Amazing recipe. Thank you. 5/5.
