Air Fryer Ribeye
I will often buy meat ahead ready for recipes on Recipe This. It will then be labelled up for the freezer and I can defrost or cook from frozen whenever I need to.
One evening I grabbed rump steak, sirloin steak and ribeye steak from the freezer.
Explained to my chef hubby Dominic that the next day I would be doing several steak recipes.
His first response was:
Make sure I get the ribeye.
You and the kids can have the sirloin and rump!
I think that is the chef way of saying that out of these steak cuts that ribeye is BEST.
It made me more curious and the next day I tried all three and I just wanted to binge on air fryer ribeye steak. I mean OMG ribeye steak in the air fryer is AMAZING.
What Is Ribeye Steak?
I often get asked what ribeye steak is. Just like the name suggests the beef steaks are taken from the rib section from ribs 6 through to 12.
It is also known as rib eye and often referred to as the Scotch fillet.
Ribeye is most famous for its rich, buttery flavour and tender texture.
Can You Cook Ribeye Steak In An Air Fryer?
Yes, you can, and did you know its easier to cook a ribeye steak in an air fryer than in a pan on the stovetop?
You see all you have to do is season your ribeye steak from inside the air fryer basket, turn it halfway through cooking and then serve.
Its like set and forget steak.
You don’t have to stand over the pan and worry about the steak spitting, or be concerned that you have overcooked the ribeye.
Just let the air fryer do its magic!
Air Fryer Ribeye Medium Rare
When I met and fell in love with Dominic in the year 2000, I was a well done kind of steak girl. I couldn’t stand the sight of the blood or the red from the steak and would hate it if I watched someone eat a medium.
Years later and many trips to the steak restaurants and I liked my steaks cooked less and less and now much prefer either rare or medium rare.
Whilst the hubby is happy with a medium.
When I served up this air fryer ribeye to him, he mentioned it was a bit rare and that many of our readers don’t like steak that pink.
Well, the wonderful thing about the air fryer is that you can add a couple of extra minutes on each side and you have transformed a ribeye from rare to medium rare.

If you would rather enjoy air fryer ribeye steak medium well, then I recommend an extra 5 minutes on each side compared to how long we have cooked our ribeye in the air fryer.
You can always check on your ribeye and if you feel its not enough for you, then you can add a few extra minutes.
How To Cook Ribeye In Air Fryer?
This is how crazy simple it is to cook ribeye steak in the air fryer:
- Load ribeye steak into the air fryer.
- Season your ribeye.
- Air fry + turn.
- Season.
- Air fry + serve.
You can probably see now why I am so obsessed with cooking steak in the air fryer.
How Long To Cook Ribeye In Air Fryer?
The air fryer ribeye cook time is JUST 5 minutes on each side for just under a medium rare.
If you would like a classic medium for your ribeye steak, I recommend you do 8 minutes on each side instead.
After all, a ribeye steak cooked in the air fryer is often a large steak and needs a little extra compared to sirloin or fillet.

Air Fryer Ribeye Steak Ingredients:
- 2 Ribeye Steaks
- 1 Tsp Steak Seasoning
- Salt & Pepper
Instructions
- Load your ribeye steaks into your air fryer basket. Season with salt, pepper, and steak seasoning. Air fry for 5 minutes at 180c/360f.
- When it beeps turn your ribeye over and season with the same ingredients again. Cook for a further 5 minutes on the same temperature.
- Serve.

Loving your steak theme, i love a ribeye so tasty and the best steak in my opinion, all steaks are not alike and need different cooking times i tried these first time cooking steak in an air fryer and these were perfect just how i like them.
Air fryer were made for steak surely. These were really easy to do and me my hubby loved them, we had air fried mushrooms as well, thanks for both recipes.
Does it hurt to use protectors for the basket

No it does not hurt to use protectors, if you mean covering the bottom of the basket and placing food on it, but covering the whole basket with a protector will change the cook times of the recipes 🙂
